If you're looking for a sandwich that hits the spot, look no further than Tom's Sandwich Shop in Hove. This cozy little eatery is a must-visit for anyone who loves a good sandwich. I was blown away by their BLT sandwich. The bacon was crispy, the lettuce was fresh, and the tomatoes were juicy - all nestled between two slices of perfectly toasted bread. It was simply excellent. The espresso was top-notch as well. It was the kind of espresso that Alan Tomlins would approve of, and the locals would know that that's saying something! The prices were very reasonable. Given the high quality of the food and coffee, I was pleasantly surprised by how affordable everything was. A place that doesn't charge an arm and a leg for a good meal and Tom's friendliness is what really sets this place apart - he was incredibly welcoming and took the time to chat with me about my order.
Highly recommended. The food is fantastic, the coffee is excellent, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. If you're in the Hove area, make sure to stop by and say hello to Tom - you won't be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy daughter-in-law had popped in to order her sandwich to be ready for pick up when she came out of a class. I queued to buy one for me and one for my son.
The long queue was testament to the quality of the food here. Plenty of choice and the staff are friendly and polite while working quickly and professionally to serve the waiting hordes. The choices were presented quickly but clearly: white, wholemeal or wholegrain? butter? salad? avocado? I chose the chicken mayo with crispy bacon and added avocado on wholegrain. It was full of big, perfectly cooked chunks of chicken with lovely crispy bacon for texture. Large portions, a meal in itself. I ate three-quarters for my lunch and had the rest later - it had kept perfectly well in its paper wrapping.
Beautifully clean with a few seats if you want to 'eat in'. They don't take credit cards, cash only, which caught me out (as a tourist with little...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI canāt recommend Tomās enough! Such a hidden gem in a peaceful location just off Cromwell Road. All sandwiches are made to order, and Tom being as friendly and kind as he is, youāll even get help choosing when stuck. Yes, an indecisive one over here! Today I had the Tricolore (toasted as itās a chilly day) and it might just be the best sandwich Iāve ever had. Ingredients are fresh and everything is so flavourful. These arenāt your average sandwiches, though thereās options from āclassicsā to something more adventurous.
Coffee is delicious, thereās oat milk available as well. Service is fast and friendly, though there is sometimes a bit of a queue which is only a testament to what a local favourite the shop is! Thereās indoor seating and a couple of seats outside.
Prices are so fair as well. I had a very filling sandwich, a pack of crisps and an oat cappuccino; all came down to...
