We recently had a wonderful 24 hours in Hove staying at Landsdowne House. Location was perfect- on the ‘Brighton side’ of Hove it was ideally situated for us with a 10 minute walk to the lanes but a slightly quieter vibe. There are 3 or 4 top class restaurants within stumbling distance. If you look down the street out onto the road the sea is less than 100m away.
The whole house itself is like something out of a filmset- sympathetically and meticulously restored throughout to a very high standard. We stayed in the green room and it was a complete joy- beautifully thought-through interiors with tastefully chosen antique furniture and a bed big enough to get lost in. The en suite bathroom has a huge freestanding tub and was bigger itself than most other hotel rooms I’ve stayed in. Beautiful panoramic windows looking out onto the quiet road was the topper
Nat and Tom were perfect hosts- accommodating without being intrusive- warm and friendly with helpful tips for local activities and eateries- it’s clear they live the Brighton/hove lifestyle as their enthusiasm for the area is infectious.
My only anger was we only booked one night. Cannot recommend it...
Read moreWe stayed for one night in the Green Room, and our only disappointment was that we didn't stay longer. The decor is absolutely stunning - we took home lots of inspiration for our own house (although alas we don't have the high ceilings.) The things that bug me about many hotels were all perfect - 1) The curtains are completely blackout; 2) The road is nice and quiet; 3) There are electrical sockets next to both sides of the bed for phone chargers (slightly mad how many hotels still haven't got the memo!) 4) It was impeccably clean; 5) The coffee in the room was great. The en-suite is luxorious, I had a lovely bath and took my time in the morning. Breakfast was delicious, I had local granola, yoghurt and fresh raspberries with hipster-grade coffee and my partner had a cooked breakfast. We were blessed with a sunny day in Hove and could stroll on the beach front a few minutes walk away. Lots going on but much more chilled out than the Brighton front. Tom and Natalie were charming hosts, with the right balance of attentiveness and privacy - we felt entirely at home. We...
Read moreYou can not fault this place. The beach is just a few minutes down the road and its also near lots of restaurants. Right from booking Natalie answered any queries immediately and kept us informed and updated. On arrival to our beautiful room (the green room) Natalie offered us a welcome pot of tea with biscuits. We had soft dressing gowns, fluffy towels, very large extremely comfortable bed and large bath and separate shower. Every night a container of milk was left for us to make our own tea/coffee. You complete a form each day for your breakfast choice and wow what a delicious menu, continental or full English etc and if you want both there was a small extra charge. We had the choice of eating our breakfast in our room, the garden or dining room and you can choose your time. We had ours in the room and Natalie arrived right on time with our faultless breakfast and layed it out on our table. Our bed was properly re made each day and the room tidied. Just cannot wait to stay again and definitely wouldn't hesitate to...
