The staff here did everything right, it’s a pleasant and friendly atmosphere. The food however, the one thing you come for. Summary: Outdated and bland food Few of us had prawn cocktail which wasn’t bad, personally not a fan of tomatoes so spent a lot of time fishing out the tiny pieces, no mention of them on the menu. One of us had the king prawns in garlic butter, which they were swimming in. A drizzle or two to dip bread in to not so bad, but this was more like a 1/4 of a bowl of grease with prawns thrown in, the flavour was ok… On to mains, I had sirloin (medium) which was in all fairness cooked to medium. But there was no seasoning, the chips from a packet frozen, but were ok. The mushrooms, slimy out of a tin then warmed, not nice at all. Salmon straight from the freezer, not seasoned, watery. The ‘vegetable medley’ which was peas and carrots, no idea what would of been wrong with seasonal veg nor why you would describe as a medley, except when you get the obvious, that they were tinned or frozen. The most remarkable part is I have no idea how long you have to cook a pea for it to lose all its flavour, but this had been achieved. Curry, served with rice & peas & carrots, maybe they’re desperate to get rid of them. The desserts were probably the only saving grace, very nice and surprisingly the cream...
Read moreWent there for the first time. As usual she asked us how many of us so we said 4 adult and one child and high chair is not required. So she went and came back within 5 min and we got a seat. Once we started to ordered a friend of mine only ordered a dessert to share with her husband as it was around 3pm andthe rest of us oreded 3 main and one dessert. This waitress was very rude and making her and us feel really embarrassed as she said 'next time if you want to only order desserts she should take a seat at the other side of restaurant'. So 3 of us want to want to eat and 2 just want dessert. That's ridiculous!!! Unasseptable behaviour as she was trying to say something to her work colleague at the back and they were all looking at our table. First of all no one ever ask us before they sat us down what we are going to have and we did not demand where we should be seated. It's not our fault if we got a seat there and secondly 3 of us want to eat lunch and 2 had lunch already so only dessert. So are we supposed to split into two different section within the restaurant???? That make no sense to!!! That experience made us felt insulted embarrassed....
Read moreAs customers who have faithfully supported this establishment for more than 30 years, our recent visit left us thoroughly disillusioned. The customer service delivered by the waitresses was shockingly subpar and fell drastically below the high standards we once admired. As for the food, not only were the price hikes disappointing, but the portions were so drastically reduced that it felt almost insulting; both the Deep Fried Plaice and Deep Fried Haddock were alarmingly thin and meagre, a shadow of their former selves. The haddock, which used to generously cover the plate, now barely reaches the edges, leaving most of the plate bare. The fries, too, were noticeably sparse. Even the brown sauce tasted oddly off, a far cry from what we remembered. Both fish dishes lacked the signature crispy batter and were severely overcooked—the plaice was nearly impossible to eat. To add to our frustration, not a single member of staff bothered to check on our meal or display any genuine concern for our satisfaction. After such a disappointing and dispiriting experience, we cannot imagine returning, and it is with considerable regret that we share...
