Visited the Isle for a Soul/Reggae Event and saw this place as we drove to the event. We made sure it was on our list to visit and was also recommended by our Hosts. Authentic family run, friendly young business on the high street. Portions are great and prices even better, please do ask if theres something you fancy as per menu Viv & her partner are great and very accommodating (like me w/ Ackee & Saltfish), my meal consisted of the above w/ Rice & Peas, Coleslaw, Salad, Dumpling (not GF) & Plantain. I chose a lovely freshly made fruit punch as an accompaniment and they even had Gluten Free Cake for afters which was brilliant, my meal came to less than £20 and the flavours were just right not too spicy or under seasoned, ackee was perfect. The rest of my group had Curry Goat which had very few bones if that’s your vibe also, I just prefer ital/fish. Would recommend and will return if I come back to the Island. Will be taking some of their Flaky Patties home for family to try as a gift from my time on the Island.

Hidden Gem in Sandown! 🌟 Wasn’t expecting to find a Caribbean cafe here, but so glad we did — Viv's Cooking is was a gem of a find! My family loved our takeaway patties and the Jamaican rum cake — authentic and very tasty. The lady serving was friendly and welcoming, and she immediately made an effort to with our 4-year-old. Perfect location too — right next to Sandown Pier and right next to St John's Road car park (ideal if you’re charging your EV and fancy a bite). We’ll definitely be returning on future Isle of Wight trips, and I’d highly recommend it.🍴🇯🇲

A jewel in the South. I stumbled upon this place walking in Sandown. It’s catchy name got my attention, being from the Caribbean. When you can have old fashioned ginger beer with Jamaican patties followed by a decent coffee and sticky toffee pudding, you’re in nirvana. Vivette (restaurant’s namesake) and Paul, the owners, are so welcoming and friendly. Got some good tips on island living here. Thank you and see you soon! Felt like home away from home. Maybe soon to be home here too!

Viv's Cooking is a delightful family business that offers a taste of Jamaica right in the heart of Sandown at the Isle of Wight. I recently had the pleasure of trying their goat curry with rice and dumplings, and it was absolutely delicious. The flavors were perfectly balanced, and the spices added just the right amount of heat.

One of the things that really stood out to me about Viv's Cooking was the friendly atmosphere. The family that runs the business is incredibly welcoming and happy to share their knowledge of the food and flavors with customers. They offer a range of spiciness levels to suit all tastes, so even if you're not a fan of really spicy food, you're sure to find something to enjoy.

In addition to the amazing goat curry, Viv's Cooking also serves a variety of other Jamaican dishes, as well as delicious Jamaican coffee and tempting desserts like cakes and bread pudding. Everything I tried was top-notch, and the atmosphere was incredibly friendly and relaxing.

Viv herself goes out of her way to make sure all customers feel comfortable and welcome, especially families with children. Her old-school Jamaican cooking is a true delight, and I would highly recommend Viv's Cooking to anyone looking for a taste of Jamaica on the Isle of Wight. Old skool Jamaican cooking. Tasty...

It was a dreary rainy afternoon when we stumbled across Viv's. Most cafes and restaurants in Sandown had already stopped serving lunch so we were heartened to see Viv's colourful exterior and welcoming promises of Jamaican and English food. With slight trepidation as we knew it was past closing time (English Bank Holiday hours) we popped our heads through the door and enquired if they were still serving. My goodness this was the warmest welcome we had received in the town. Nothing could be too much trouble for this wonderful couple. We were treated like lost family members and Viv never lost her smile. The food was delicious ( we took some curried goat Pasties home too; as well as some chocolate cake) and the service was beyond compare. We left with huge smiles on our faces and looking forward to coming back to the Island specifically for the Goatober week. If you want your jerk chicken, brown stew or curried goat a bit more spicy then just ask :) Thank you for turning a rainy day...
