VIVA — Restaurant in England

I had a booking on Friday 2nd at 19:15 for 4 people. We arrived on time in the bar downstairs to be told to go upstairs to reception. When we arrived there was a short wait. The lady in charge explained that we would not be able to complete the session and it was better to wait until 20:00 to get the full time. We did query this but she was adamant that we take this slot. I explained we had another booking elsewhere at 08:30 and it was not quite appropriate. But again, she made it clear 8pm was the only time we were getting in. She asked us to complete the waivers and grab a drink and she would come get us at 8pm. We did this but at 08:06 no one had come to get us so I went up to the reception again and asked what was going on. The two ladies (one was a trainee) said we needed to do the waivers and they would need to check our names. I explained we had already done this and also explained that no one had come to get us. It was now less than 30 minutes we would have.

The lady took us downstairs to thw axe throwing and was clearly disgruntled. I again explained that this wasn't good enough as it was now 08:11. We would only have 19 minutes when I had paid for 30 and been messed around. She told me we either played and got on with it or we left. I asked for a refund and she refused stating "we dont do that".

So i left my group to start and i went upstairs to find a more senior member of staff. I found a gentleman and explained the situation. His only solution was to bring down 4 shots for my group. I did explain that i would prefer 1/3 of my money back considering i was only able to have just under 2/3 of time. He refused saying the shots was all he could do. I went back to my group, all felt that the lady was being miserable and rude. Then the gentleman arrived with shots and switched the lady with a new guy. He was brilliant fun.

My complaint is, that despite arriving on time, we were met with rude staff members who chewed up our time with no valid reasons. We had our experience ruined and with no refund. All 4 of us, who were celebrating, felt that the lady was clearly miserable to us all because i had complained. I would also like to point out that when we did arrive downstairs there was only twp people using the ace throwing next to us.

We cannot fathom what went wrong other than a disgruntled...

Saturday 14th September Awful party! Pre booked for 8 for a children’s party to have golf, party room & then food. Tried booking this party multiple times in person to be told the manager was not there & we would need to come back or email in. Finally got a response on Facebook messenger & managed to get the party booked. Everything seemed well organised once booked. We then turn up for our booking today to be informed no one was aware we had a kids party booked which of course we were not impressed at all. We then were given the golf equipment & started the game ourselves as staff did not know what was going on. I was informed that we would have a party host for the party & I had waited around 15 minutes whilst the children did the first hole to see if a party host would turn up. In the end I went back down to the main desk & asked are we not getting a party host? The lady I spoke with informed that none of the staff were aware a kids party was booked or coming in today but she was getting everything ready as soon as possible for us. She then joined our group upstairs in the golf area. This lady hosted the children all the way around the golf area. It was so warm in the top level & most of the children wanted drinks, so I went to the bar to be informed they would only get one soft drink included but I decided to keep that for there main meal & asked for two jugs of squash to keep the kids happy until they had there drink with their dinner. The manager came over & put it through the till & I am still shocked with the price, £9.80 for two jugs of squash. My jaw hit the floor. I wish I would have known how expensive it would be as I would have brought my own drinks for the kids. I also was gobsmacked as considering how much money we paid for this party and we had to pay for drinks on top was ridiculous. The children then carried on with the golf course and then were informed of the winners at the end. We were then informed by the staff member that we could go down to the party room whenever we wanted. We went straight down & were left to our own devices whilst in the room. Apart from the food being delivered we did not see a member of staff for the remainder of the party. For the amount of money we paid, I am very disappointed with the service...

I wouldn’t usually leave a review like this as I’m not in the routine of bashing local businesses but I have never experienced management/customer service like this before from anything locally.

Giving 1 star because I can’t give 0. I had booked a staff party including various games and bottomless brunch for my small business. We had agreed a time slot and I pre paid for the deposit over the phone.

Less than 24 hours before we were due to attend viva, I was contacted by ‘bookings assistant’ who explained that I was unable to attend our already agreed time and viva wished to move out allocated slot to 4 hours earlier of which we could not attend due to still being at work.

Due to this I then requested a refund of which I was informed it was not within their cancellation policy. I questioned this as the fault was with vivas staff/booking and not being able to stick to the allocated time. I was assured that a manager would call me to discuss this.

It has now been 3 weeks without any contact and viva still have not made any effort to pay any money back.

I would avoid this company at all cost, horrendous...
