Appalling- thanks for ruining my birthday meal
We went there to have a Sunday afternoon meal with our son, his wife and two granddaughters. We were given a choice of seating, both next to LOUD, large children’s parties. We thought we chose the best of two evils however we clearly were in another universe.
We sat, without a single waiter coming for a drinks order for 30 minutes. Then a different waiter than had seated us comes and asks if we’re ready to order meals. We said, no given we’ve not had drink orders taken yet. Waiter takes drinks orders and disappears for 15 minutes then walks up with someone else’s drinks, and gives one of them to my son.
Sit another 10 minutes when first waiter comes back, we demand our drinks and another 5 minutes later they finally came.
I must be Forrest Gump, or stupid at this point we should have walked out. Foolishly we order food hoping the drinks were not a reflection on the restaurant.
What mugs we were, sit there for 20 more minutes when ONLY our granddaughters food comes. Wait another 15 minutes until waiter #2 comes by and demand our food which were told will be right out. Rubbish- almost 10 more minutes until it came. The food was NOT hot, just lukewarm but having been there almost 2 hours with 2 increasingly tired granddaughters we ask for their ice creams. Those surprisingly come quick.
No waiter comes to clear plates and when #1 does, he starts to walk away as one of our diners wasn’t finished. It as at this point I noticed waiter #1 now sitting at the bar with his anorak on like he’s about to leave. Never saw waiter #2 again, and at 2.5++ hours I had to go to the bar and ask the bartender for our bill. No one wanted to stay to have pudding as all were warn out and seething over the entire experience.
£102 for horrible service, shoddy execution, no service, high noise level. Drove 30 minutes each way to feel very disappointed and frankly a bit ripped off.
NEVER EVER GOING THERE AGAIN and I made sure to warn several folks in the car park how poorly we had been seen to warn them off. Rest assured I will be telling everyone I know in the area to avoid your...
Read moreA nicely located upmarket chain restaurant situated at the end of the high street in Gerrards Cross.
Menu is not too large, and there are plenty of choices mainly centred around Italian cuisine.
The meal itself was pretty good. A decent, if dry, chicken burger and a nice gluten-free pasta dish that pleased my brother at least. One of us had the carbanara, and I was pleased to see pancetta used but equally surprised to see they use cream. A very Italian no no, but maybe this is because we are in the UK and the English palette needs cream?!
I asked for a single shot flat white, which seemed to be beyond the staff to prepare properly.
Certainly part the problem was the machine as it was far too hot (definitely set at well above 100 degrees C), but the main issue was with the milk as to me, on both occasions as I asked for a 2nd one, it basically came as a white coffee with barely any milk cream (or microfoam).
When I complained, I was told that a barista had prepared it, and she blamed the milk being semi skimmed, and the fact i had asked for a half shot was also mentioned.
Any fully trained barista can prepare a flat white perfectly well with virtually any milk, and the fact I had asked for less coffee in it was of no importance whatsoever.
I guess I wanted her to at least admit her mistake, but that was obviously too much to ask. I observed her preparing the 2nd one, and it was pretty obvious to me why the coffee came out like it did.
There were so many basic errors that if indeed we were served by a fully trained barista, I would very much like to speak to the person who trained her.
I had not touched the 1st coffee, and I had mentioned that the 2nd one was still not good enough and barely touched that also.
To compound this issue, and one of the reasons I gave such a low service charge, I was still charged for one of the worst flat whites I have ever been served. It did leave a bitter taste in the mouth (excuse the pun).
Cannot really recommend this one as there are far too many better restaurants in Gerrards Cross....both in quality...
Read morewouldn’t recommend here if you don’t want to be forced into tipping. Me and a few of my friends thought we would have a little school reunion here in a hope of a nice meal and good ambience. The night was good until it came to paying. The waiter had put a service charge on our bill. but we didn’t want to leave a £20 tip considering we had been there more than an hour and spoke to our waiter 2 times. We had intended on leaving a smaller, cash tip instead, which we felt was right. However, when it came to paying, As a person who works in hospitality, I was shocked at this and couldn’t believe it. We split the bill into 3 and after the 3rd payment, it was a lot more than we had worked out. We were then told we have to pay the service charge as we had payed some already. Again, as a person in hospitality, that is awful customer service. We then asked to see a manager who came over adamant that this was the case. After a conversation with her, she began to raise her voice at us and get quite annoyed like we were in the wrong! This led to her walking away whilst we were talking to her about our issue we will not be returning because of a lack of respect for their customers Would be great if someone could get in touch and resolve...
