It started really well but went down hill when the food arrived. I ordered the steak and ale pie and when it came out it looked amazing. It wasn't until I got about half way through that it became apparent that there were mushrooms in the pie. Luckily I do not have a serious allergy to them, just an intolerance, but it was very very disappointing to find them in the pie. I checked the menu to make sure I had not misread it, but no, it did not state it contained mushrooms on the menu. I called the waiter over and he just said he'd mention it to the manager, with no concern whatsoever. I was silly enough to expect the manager to pop out and at least apologise, but no! I spoke to another member of staff who informed me that, according to the manager, he did not by law have to state there were mushrooms in the pie as they were not deemed to be an "at risk" allergy ingredient. I found the non appearance of the manager and the blase attitude of the staff extremely rude and disappointing. I was given a refund, although I felt that was under duress and with attitude, therefore we will not be returning to this...

We come to this town year on year one or twice every year. Tonight for the umpteenth time we booked into Ye Old Salutation Inn for something to eat. Never been treated so disrespectfully in all the times we have been! Arrived in good time, 6:30pm for a 7pm booking. Ordered a couple of drinks, sat at out table at 7pm prompt, had to go to the bar to order another round! Be assured they we not bust by no means, by this time another table that arrived after us had been served, still no attention, my partner went to the bar again to say nobody had been to serve us. 7:30pm a walk in arrives and are ushered to a reserved table that had not turned up, 2 mins later waitress straight over with menus and takes drinks order. Still no service. I approach the bar to pay for the two rounds of drinks, no apologies or nothing just a straight ypu owe ÂŁ17! No acknowledgement as to why we were leaving! Absolutely shocking service, avoid at all costs if you want...

This pub operates a STRICT 25 Challenge policy, which is disappointing when we took our two 20 something daughters in. Fine if you want to be strictly about this but it's pretty bloody sneaky to have ÂŁ15 off us whilst watching me scroll through my phones media for passport proof only to announce once I'd found it, and once 2 of the drinks for my husband and I were bought to inform us it had to be a physical passport and not a photo. Literally nowhere else in Cornwall has asked us for this (and in Manchester it's perfectly acceptable to show a photo). So fine if this is your policy but you need to make this clear up front so we could choose to go elsewhere instead of having our money off us. To be honest the barman looked terified of the landlady, so I shouldn't have been suprised. So if you're lucky enough to look under 30, make sure you've physical photo ID. Unless it's the landlady's day off, then you might get...

My partner and I went to Looe for a day to visit. We love this pub. It was cosy and not too busy in the moment we get in. We had fishpie and theirs special pie. We both like our food. The fishpie was delicious but I would aspecting little bit of white sauce (but this is may be personal preference as I know that not everyone put white sauce in the fishpie ) , and I didn't fill much the fish as it was in really little pieces so at the end I felt like I had lots mush potatoes but overall it was nice. The menu' is quite simple and the food is tasty. We didn't book but we managed to found a table. Le lady on the front was very welcoming and smiling, also the guy at the counter.

Lovely old traditional pub with low beams. Unfortunately no working log fire but still a lovely cosy feel. Staff - One of the ladies was very welcoming and attentive, friendly, asked how everything was etc. The other didn't seem to want to be there. Stood eating cake and didn't really smile. Maybe she was having a bad day. The food was OK. Don't think was homecooked altho was piping hot and tasted OK. We had garlic mushrooms, king prawn tempura, and 2 lamb hot pots. Was sufficient portions. We seen a few fish and chips come out which looked amazing

We just popped in for a drink. The staff were unfriendly and not interested in us , I think because we were not eating. Many tables had signs asking that you might be asked to move if a larger group came into the pub to eat- fair enough. I sat at a large empty table in a cosy area with the sign asking if smaller groups would move if a larger group came in. My husband was told we couldn't sit there. We would have happily moved when a larger party came. It was not necessary to be pushy. Shame. Lovely quaint pub The food looked ok too.
