Exeter Peri Peri — Restaurant in Exeter

UPDATED REVIEW, MARCH 2024 OK so based on the owner's response I went back to the restaurant again, and this time got beef burger + chips + peri peri wings + milkshake. All are delicious, great service, clean tables, affordable prices. They also apologized for the previous burnt satay order with a nice discount. Bonus point: There was a disabled person among the customers who started shouting, the owner professionally calmed him down. Very nice move. Updated to 5 star.

ORIGINAL REVIEW, FEBRUARY 2024 Just ordered from this place for the first time with high hopes, but such a disappointment unfortunately.. The prep and delivery time, along with the chips, met my expectations. But can’t say the same for the rest of the food..

Fried chicken burger: The fried chicken burger included an unexpected large potato piece not mentioned in the menu, which felt out of place. More importantly, the fried chicken itself was overly oily and lacked the expected crispiness, being soft throughout.

Chicken satay: Couldn’t really taste anything really because it was overly burnt.. Beef satay: Couldn’t really taste anything really because, well, it was overly burnt again.. Someone put these on a grill and went to a smoke break I guess. Plus, the texture of the beef was so chewy. For the burns: See the photos. I really couldn’t eat any of the satays.

I might give another shot in the future but for now, and believe I have no pleasure saying this but it was such a disappointment..

(2024) I have catered again from EFCFC for my daughter's 6th birthday and the food again was smashing! I have gotten to know the owner well. He was away at the time and his staff delivered the order late which luckily did not cause any issue with the venue as we were the last booking of the day. However, the food which was the same menu as last year was again amazing and all guests, loved it and a few asked me for the name of the company. I would surely recommend!

(2023)I have mainly used catering, take out and delivery from them for a few years now. Today being another occasion, my daughter's 5th birthday. There were about 60 odd guests. The food yet again was a hit. I have always tell my wife their peri peri hits nandos out of the park anyday. One of my guests at the party said the exact same thing to me. The chicken has so much flavour, depth and taste. We also ordered their special masala fish and chips, fried chicken, nuggets, fish cakes, veggie wraps and a few more items.They always deliver on time and the food is fresh and has amazing taste. They also do the best pulao rice we have tasted in the south west. I know the owner. He is a friendly guy and always gives me great service....

Edit: The food isn't as nice as before anymore, I received a cold and stiff chicken mayo burger, after 3 extra visits with my family thinking it can get better, the food is still rather bad quality now. And from a 5 star review, I have to drop it to 2. I believe there's been a change of owners, thus a change of how things are done. Sorry.

Old review: My husband and I love the food here. He ordered a mix grill burger set and I had a zinger burger set.. full of flavour, good portion and great price, staff was polite, therefore a 5 star review. I come from a country that's known for good food so this is my personal opinion. My husband's a fussy eater but he too loved the food. I see conflicting reviews on this shop, perhaps just give it a go and decide for yourselves! Haven't tried the fish and chips so can't comment on...
