The Ocean Club — Restaurant in Exeter

I love this bar! At the time of this review, its only been open a short while and the super friendly owners (Hi Al and Neil!) are still ironing out a few wrinkles but that in no way detracts from the delicious pizza, super cocktails and great atmosphere - all at a very competitive price point! This is a great little bar for a chilled out afternoon drink/nibble - if its sunny the terrace out front is lush and if its raining the inside is cosy and stylish. Equally its got a great night time vibe if you're up for it on a Friday/Saturday night. Come to think of it its great any time of the day coz these guys never seem to sleep and are open virtually all day and night everyday! Managing expectations, be mindful of the following: 1. the bar is cool but compact so can get pretty full on busy nights. 2) the food is delicious and is freshly prepared so won't be on your plate in an instant but is well worth any wait. 3) the drinks are made with quality booze and cocktails are also freshly made, no premix here - decent cocktails take time to make, especially when you're making loads of them all at once but again are worth any wait. 4) the owners and staff are all lovely and very hard working but this is a new bar and it takes time to get everything running 100% perfect all of the time, though its not for lack of trying by these guys! SO, if you want a relaxed drinking/eating experience, in a great looking bar with super friendly staff then this is the place for you BUT if you are impatient/in a rush on a busy Friday/Saturday night, or don't care about the quality of the product or the people serving you then maybe stick to a generic chain pub with everything else...

Came here last Saturday evening for some drinks with my family for my birthday. My mum ordered herself a Coke and myself a vodka lemonade. When the girl passed us our drinks, my mum was concerned that the girl had accidentally put the vodka in her coke as it smelt like vodka. As my mum cannot drink alcohol due to her illness, she asked if I could try it to see if there was vodka in her drink, so I did and it did have vodka in. I sipped my lemonade and there was no vodka in it. My mum explained the error to the girl behind the bar to which she said ‘you asked for a vodka and coke’ I was behind my mum when she ordered and she had asked for a vodka lemonade and a coke. My mum asked if the drinks could be corrected and the lady asked if we had tried the drinks - to which my mum said yes, that’s how we know they are wrong. The lady then explained that as we had sipped the drinks, she wasn’t able to change them.

Probably costs the bar less than a pound to add some vodka to the lemonade and remake the coke to rectify the situation and would have retained some customers who would have happily continued to spend the rest of their evening here. It’s a shame because the bar does have a...

The Ocean Club is hands down the place to be in Exeter if you love great drinks, great vibes, and even better people. Neil and Alex are absolute masters behind the bar, every cocktail they make is perfectly balanced, beautifully presented, and full of flavour.

It was great watching Alex and Neil craft the cocktails right in front of us while we sat at the bar, you can really see the skill and passion that goes into every drink.

The atmosphere at the Ocean Club is always brilliant, lively without being chaotic, stylish yet relaxed, and filled with friendly faces. Whether you’re out for after-work drinks, a special night, or just want to unwind with something expertly mixed, this place never disappoints.
