Wondered along here late morning on an early-Autumn Sunday. Many venues along this side of the Quay had their doors open and were visibly bustling inside giving a really welcoming vibe and enticing us in. On the Waterfront had its doors shut and was dark inside. We were after a specific dish here so we ventured in anyway to be told they were open but only served the dish from midday. The servers were sitting finishing their breakfasts. We returned 1.5hrs later after coffee in a lively cafe nearby to find the doors still closed. We went into the deserted bar and ordered and the remains of the servers breakfast dishes were still lying on the table near the bar! Our pizza arrived fast and was really good with happy service. Sitting outside we saw many people walk past with only a very few deciding to try the doors of this place, others being drawn to more vibrant venues. Such a pity that the staff in charge hadn't made the place look alive by opening the doors, wiping the damp seats and tables down, putting signs clearly directing customers towards doors etc to encourage more custom. We enjoyed our food but certainly wouldn't have eaten here if we hadn't planned our visit with a specific dish - Crime against Italy pizza - in mind! The managing of this venue seemed a little like a crime against the owners due to the lack of care and enthusiasm for encouraging custom!

Very nice pizza, lovely gentlemen serving and gorgeous setting. We were missing plates and cutlery and had to wait a little while to call someone to obtain them. The ambiance there was lovely and I've heard great things about the place. Unfortunately Ali oli never arrived and was being freshly made, I think I may need to go back if only to taste that!! We sat in a wonderful spot inside the door, the view was out onto the water and we could watch people drifting past. It wasn't idea that a family of 9 came and stood at the side of our chairs trying to get a table at peak time. Several waiting staff were serving so couldn't stop so they didn't ask them to move which was disappointing given the covid standards throughout the rest of the establishment were great. Staff wore masks, they were happy to help when available, drinks were served quickly and were on ice, perfect! I think another visit is required and a second meal sampled...with the Ali oli that we missed out on. ADDITIONAL VISIT Visited with family, we waited ti be seated outside and 2 tables became free. The very kind gentleman cleaned both for us and allowed us an choice of where to sit. Service was good, food toob about an hour (we were advised of this prior to ordering) it was almost exactly on time! Well done and thank you. 3RD VISIT Unfortunately this visit was not so great. The chicken and bacon burger smelled off so it was replaced by a beef burger that was much better. The nachos were delicious and my friends very much enjoyed their pizza's.

Went to the Waterfront this evening. Usually enjoy my waterfront experience, and have spent alot of money there in the past. However on this occasion me and my freind left feeling insulted by staff and unhappy with the food. We ate the overdoughed pizza as we were both very hungry, however the side we had ordered wasn't edible. It was very chewy to the point our jaws hurt, so after attempting to eat 3 slices.. we decided to tell a member of staff who proceeded to get her manager. A scrawny, pale young lad came to our table. He didn't bother checking the issues that we had mentioned, then told us that we had been in "looking for refunds earlier this month". After being embarrassed infront of the restaurant, feeling like we had been profiled as a pair of skanks. My freind replied and told him that is terrible customer service and a very rude way to be approached. He answered by saying there will be no refund as we "look like the type of people to look for one". If you are going to use this establishment. Avoid being served by the boy that looks like Chesney with bad tattoos at the bar.

Set in the Stunning Exeter Quay, where there has been extensive regeneration (of the whole area) which is now looking fantastic. The repurposing of the traditional quay side buildings brings another level to these establishments. I managed to book On The Waterfront through Google itself which was really quick and efficient. The restaurant has stunning decor, which is massively enhanced by the use of the original 19th century warehouse architecture. The restaurant specialises in pizza and this is predominantly the menu options. The service was friendly, although not entirely attentive as we would have enjoyed another round of drinks. Our serving staff did change multiple times as well leading us to be unsure about a tip as there was no stand out service received (this also was not because of the restaurant being busy, as at the time we ate the restaurant was about half empty) The pizza was tasty but again it was 'just' pizza (in quotations because this is their niche and they are good at it). The atmosphere was great, really nice place to go for special occasions.

Updated review: We had a great experience here with our group of 6. First of all the booking system is so easy to use through Google Maps. The attention from the staff is balanced brilliantly and the menu is extremely varied. We ordered the children's pizza which was a great size for our youngest (6) and our eldest loved the 'make any pizza a calzone' option. The nachos as a main were a little disappointing as it was quite heavily cheesed and sour creamed etc. which meant that the ration to dry and wet was a little too on the soggy side for her. The korma pizza was great tasting and a really interesting choice and the Sicilian sausage was tasty although (as it's a salted sausage) a little salty. I chose the Phillie Cheesesteak sandwich and I was probably the most disappointed. The sandwich wasn't that big and the chip I had weren't cold but they weren't hot either. Overall it's a good place to eat but I did feel that averaging £20 per person it needs to be great! Do delicious Pizza (Korean BBQ) and a great outside area - just watch out for those pesky gulls!

We visited with our daughter for a drink and a bite to eat, the service and food was really good, it was lovely to sit outside and enjoy the views as people walked, sailed and paddle boarded past. Such a lovely way to pass an hour. While we were there a group of women on a birthday celebration arrived and unfortunately started abusing the staff, the manageress quickly arrived and gave them a stern warning about their behaviour, advising they would not be served any more drinks. Sadly two of the women escalated the situation and were even more abusive to the manageress. I take my had off to her for the way she handled the situation, most of the women left leaving the two abusive ones and the manageress patiently stood and waited for them to leave while they abused and photographed her. Really handled the whole situation very well, and then apologised to all the customers. A++
