We ate here on a Saturday night. We arrived early and our table wasn't ready (absolutely no issue with this) so had a drink at the bar. We had the Mac balls and gyoza to start and the lamb and prawn tacos. The food was really nice and there was plenty of it. I could see other food orders for other tables arriving and have to say the fresh fish looked extremely appetizing, the fish looked huge. We will be back but will arrive a little later than we had booked this time around. The restaurant was full and the turnaround was high. It also made the atmosphere very lively albeit a little loud at times. I would say that there needs to be a front of house person to be responsible for those arriving. Staff were very busy so we weren't acknowledged for a little while. Also, I have registered with the Crave site but cannot see where I need to put the code to get my points. It may be that the site is in its infancy for this to be available yet but the code is only valid for 30 days.

Staying for a week in Devon, we decided for a "bumble day" in Exeter for our wedding anniversary. As we had with us Rock God Marble the spaniel, we decided on Crave and a table outside (dogs are welcome inside too), and the prices are reasonable. The decision was also influenced to choose Crave because it is an independent, and states the food is all locally sourced. The burgers were very good, and "skin on" fries crisp and tasty (but not greasy), washed down with a pint of Neck Oil IPA (perfect) and an Australian Chardonney. We had recommended the ice cream in a chocolate dome on a biscuit base, with hot caramel sauce poured on top. The staff were pleasant and attentive - Viking, his colleague (sorry, forgot your name!) and lady in grey. They all made a fuss of Marble, brought him a bowl of water and treats. Overall 5/5 for food, location, staff, service, prices. Great location too!

Crave completely exceeded my expectations! The location on the Quayside is stunning—perfect for a relaxing meal with a view. The interior is modern and cozy, with a warm, welcoming vibe that instantly makes you feel at home. The food was absolutely incredible. Every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavour. I tried [insert dish you had, or say “a few small plates and a main”], and everything was cooked perfectly. You can tell they use high-quality ingredients and put real care into every plate. Service was top-notch—friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about the menu. Even though it was busy, the staff made sure we were looked after throughout and made sure my husband birthday lunch was amazing Whether you're after a chilled brunch, a stylish dinner, or a few cocktails with friends, Crave nails it. I’ll definitely be back—and I’m already craving more!

I have been here 4 times now, and every time the food and the staff have been more than excellent. 1st time: Tried the fish and pulled beef tacos, and both were amazing. Flavours were fantastic, pulled beef was beyond amazing. Very fast service, food must have come out 10 minutes after we ordered, but this was a Tuesday evening. 2nd time: Went for breakfast with a couple friends. Saw their take on eggs Benedict, using their signature cubed ‘hash browns’ instead of English muffins, and again was an absolute hit! Had the option for pulled beef again, so went for that. Partner had the English breakfast and all ingredients looked great, very high quality! Went on a Sunday, food was slower, but we did order after a large table of about 12-14 people. 3rd time: Went with my partner and this time tried the smaller plates options with cocktails. Can’t remember the day but service was exceedingly fast, feel like the first plates to come out only took 5 minutes after we ordered. The belly pork was amazing, crispy yet soft in the middle with a pork stock & cream sauce and homemade apple sauce. Fried chicken, and marmite croquettes also stood out as favourites, but everything was excellent and very well presented. Unfortunately as the evening went on and it got busier, a couple of our cocktail orders didn’t make it to the bar, but the staff were so accommodating that they apologised, and told us next time they were on the house. They really didn’t have to, but going above and beyond really made us feel great, and of course we came back! 4th time: Went for the smaller plates again for myself, my partner had a ribeye steak, which was cooked to perfection. Smaller plates menu had changed but thought that was great to accommodate for seasonal ingredients! Pork belly was back, tempura tenderstem was great but compared to the meat plates, there was so much that I couldn’t eat it all. Very filling! I also had the smaller steak plate, also cooked great at medium rare, but was a little fatty in places. Didn’t complain as I understand cuts of steak will always be different and contain some fat/sinew. However, this didn’t go unnoticed by the amazing staff, as after taking the plates away, they fired a complimentary dessert as an apology, which again they didn’t have to do, it wasnt even their fault! But the attention to detail, and the willingness to go above and beyond for each and every customer was just amazing. Everyone was in good spirits, customers and staff alike. This is truly a great addition to the quayside and one that I hope will stay for...

If you're in Exeter and craving an unforgettable dining experience, look no further than ‘Crave’ – a true gem by the Quay. From the moment you step inside, it’s clear this restaurant prioritizes quality, with every dish showcasing the very best in fresh, local produce. Whether you're a seafood lover, a carnivore, or a fan of vibrant, seasonal vegetables, Crave elevates each ingredient to perfection. The surf and turf options are exceptional, with seafood that tastes like it was just pulled from the water, and meats that are tender and full of flavor.

But it’s not just the food that makes Crave special. The ambiance, with its welcoming yet sophisticated vibe, offers the perfect backdrop for a meal by the water. The house wine selection is thoughtfully curated, pairing effortlessly with the menu and adding an extra layer of enjoyment to the experience.

What truly sets Crave apart, though, is its service. The staff are attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable about the menu, and genuinely passionate about making your dining experience memorable. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or simply enjoying a night out, you’ll feel like a valued guest from start to finish.

With its prime location, exceptional food, and outstanding service, Crave is without a doubt one of Exeter’s finest restaurants. Highly recommended for anyone seeking an extraordinary meal in a...

To give crave it's due we did attend on a Monday night and they were short staffed. The restaurant looks very nice with a good atmosphere, the staff friendly and it is a comfortable place to spend the evening. We ordered a number of small plates and the monkfish main. The price is quite high so we were expecting something that would be worth a return visit. Unfortunately there was very little we enjoyed although nothing truly horrible. The anchovies in oil were tasteless and the oil was not great quality, the croquettes were cold, the cabbage, steak and monkfish under-seasoned. The pork belly was variable my portion was really well cooked and the sauce was delicious if a touch thin. My friends pork was very dry unfortunately. The sweet corn ribs were the highlight; grilled smokey and limey they were actually delicious. The 30 pound monkfish, however, was an odd texture and herb butter had a strange flavour. The oysters were served nicely on ice and were tasty but not cleaned very well with shell in a third of them and one still attached to the shell. Again nothing truly to make one shy away just didn't feel it was worth the price. Also to note there seems to be paid reviews on Google for...
