Bad experience. No-one to greet on arrival for the table booking. I found a member of staff who pointed to where my table was and told us she would put menus down and to sit when we wanted to. So we did, after 15 mins still no-one had even come over and taken our drinks order. So off I went again to find a member of staff to come and take our order. She came over took the order for drinks and food. After starters the waitress removed the plate and dropped them on my partners lap which happened to be the fat from the potted beef which went across his jeans and across his new shoes as well as all over your carpet. The waitress only help was to get some bleach spray to clean the seats! We said we wanted to be moved as we cannot sit in the fat and bleach on the couch seat. No apology. No manager came over to see what happened and to sort out. They did move us to a table under the wooden floor of upstairs which had three kids constantly running up and down making it impossible to enjoy our meal. We had to ask the waitress if they could ask the kids above to be seated. The waitress was cheeky saying she cannot make them stay still can she. We were asking for her or the manager (if there was one) to ask the family to ask their children to be seated. This was a Saturday evening dinner after all and we were not the only table to complain. We also mentioned the ruined shoes again and the cheeky waitress just said 'well she didn't mean to do it'. Oh well that's okay then, we have new shoes with fat on but that is okay! NO IT IS NOT. The table above eventually paid and left and this is when the noise stopped. On their way down they all stared as us as they left, clearly told by the staff that we had complained about them.. how unprofessional. The main courses then arrived. No-one asked if the food was okay, no member of staff to ask if we wanted more drinks. When the plates were cleared we had a coffee but then we had another 30 mins waiting to see if anyone would come over to see if everything was okay or if we needed anything. Again I went off to ask for the bill. Expecting some compensation for the dropped plates on my partner and ruined shoes but nothing. Again no apology, no discount, no free drink, no offer on how to complain about the shoes. We paid and left, no thank you, no bye. All in all the customer service was non existent here although the food was okay. We will never return to Cams Mill and also we will discourage our family and friend's due to the way we were treated...

Appalling from the minute we got there.

We’ve tried this pub one too many times, each with disappointment but after deciding to give it another try as a year had past, our party of 6 had the worst experience yet. The table was filthy and even when one of our party got them to wipe it down, we had to use our napkins to cover the table as it was still so sticky. The food arrived and my husband’s was inedible. He had ordered the kidneys and it arrived in a steak sized chunk, red raw. He sent it back and ordered a roast instead. I ordered what sounded like a nice salad and paid an additional £4 to add chicken. The salad was bland, the beetroot was brown instead of red, some items missing from it and as for the chicken, 4 pieces the size of a child’s thumb. Probably made up a third of a breast. But the worst was still to come as while one of our party was chewing through his cabbage from his roast, he found a cooked caterpillar. I don’t know if it was a blessing or a curse that he had already eaten most of his meal but I for one didn’t eat another bite after he hooked that out! We called the waitress who in all fairness was not the person who should be dealing with a complaint such as this, and she took it away to the kitchen. She then came back, apologised and said the manager will take it off the bill and offer an additional 15% off. The manager didn’t even bother to come out when my husband said that he was shocked that was all that was done! We didn’t want money off, we just didn’t want a terrible meal and caterpillar in the food! The manager should have come and spoken to us but obviously didn’t see it to be important. Needless to say, we will never, ever be eating in this...

I have been to Cams Mill a few times and every time I have had a good experience with the food I've eaten and the service was always great. I wanted to write a review particularly about this time as I was very appreciative of our server and how he went out of his way to make sure we got what we wanted.

I have a gluten intolerance so I ordered my club sandwich on gluten free bread. Without being asked the server went out of his way to make sure he understood my needs and checked whether I was coeliac, as well as informing me of how the kitchen was preparing the food in case I had any concerns. It was very kind of him to do this as although I don't normally ask, I do worry about eating out due to past experiences. This meant I didnt have to worry about being given something I shouldn't have eaten and made the experience more enjoyable.

The staff were also all wearing facemasks and adhering to government guidelines so I had no concerns about potentially catching COVID-19 as they were doing what they could to keep us safe.

Overall the food was very nice, especially the gluten free bread the sandwich was on, and the service was great. I would definately recommend this to anyone whose coming to the area, particularly anyone with a gluten...

We recently visited Cams Mill in Fareham for a Sunday roast, and it turned out to be a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The setting itself is lovely, with a warm and inviting atmosphere that makes it a great place to unwind on a weekend. For our main, we chose the roast pork belly, and it was absolutely delicious. The meat was perfectly cooked—juicy, tender, and full of flavour—while the crackling had just the right crunch without being overly hard. The sides were just as impressive: fresh, well-prepared, and clearly made with care. Everything complemented the pork beautifully, making it feel like a proper hearty Sunday roast. To drink, we had a Peroni, and it was exactly what you’d hope for—refreshing, crisp, and served ice cold, which paired wonderfully with the richness of the pork. The highlight of the meal, however, came at the end with dessert. We went for the sticky toffee pudding, accompanied by a pot of tea, and it was hands down the best part of the visit. Rich, indulgent, and comforting, it provided the perfect sweet finish. Overall, Cams Mill delivered a fantastic Sunday lunch experience, and we’d happily return.
