Six at Home: My boyfriend and I wanted to do something special for our anniversary and since we couldn't go out we decided to buy a 3 course meal each from Six at the Baltic. Six prepare the food for you and you finish off the cooking at home.
It was absolutely amazing! The food was unbelievable. So much better than a regular takeaway - there's no comparison! The instructions were really easy to follow and it genuinely tasted like premium quality restaurant food. At first I thought the instructions might be a bit overwhelming but once we got going we realised it was pretty impossible to mess it up. Each course came together pretty quickly and actually it was so much fun working it out together. It really added to the experience. It was clearly so carefully and thoughtfully put together. Everything was considered, from the the easy to follow instructions right down to the greaseproof paper you needed to cook one of the sides. The icing on the cake was the QR code other provided so you could listen to their playlist on Spotify. It was as close as you can get to a beautiful restaurant experience in your own home. It was definitely worth the £24 each we paid for it.
I would recommend this to anyone who wants to celebrate a special occasion during the pandemic. We'll definitely be trying out the take home afternoon tea for my birthday next month - and most likely the meal again for valentines day. I really hope Six keep this up even after the pandemic because I love a meal at home on a special occasion and this is such a special experience....
Read moreI booked a table with a view 4 weeks before going to the restaurant, I also rang up and asked for a table with a view. It was for my husband birthday and organised for friends to come from liverpool to meet us as a surprise. Our table was booked for 9.30 there were a few tables spare and a few tables were about to be settling up and leaving. We were asked if we wanted drinks on arrival to the table and left with the menu. Waitress returned with drinks and two bottles of water and for our order of starters and main she was very helpful due to myself being on a special eating plan. Our starters came lovely and tasty then our main no more offer of drinks. On a few occasions we did try and get the waiter notice to order more drinks. As we were eating we noticed the kitchen staff clearing up and cleaning the kitchen down. Our main meal arrived we asked for a drinks order we were told one minute ate our food still no drinks. My husband paid a visit to the bathroom he said the bins were overflowing I then went to the ladies out of all the toilets in there there was half a loo roll to share, all the bins were overflowing rubbish on the floor smelly. We final got to order a drink and our pudding. It was very hard to get attention off staff to serve you, poor poor staffing skills. I have since rang the restaurant and spoke to Chris the manager who listened to me, I was told the state of the toilets was down to the customers and the state they leave it, apparently they are cleaned on a morning. Poor excuse sorry. Would we return no...
Read moreUpon arrival at the restaurant I was greeted with a sour attitude from the staff asking if we wanted to just admire the view or have a meal. Once we said we were there for a meal they took their time to consider wether or not to seat us in the very quiet restaurant. From here on out the experience just got worse, the staff gave us a very cold experience, we were not offered drinks upon arrival at the table which I would expect from such a high class establishment. It says the average visit is between 1.5-3 hours, this is likely due to how slow the staff are. Given the number of floor staff we should not have waited as long as we did for someone to take our order after having asked if we could order. While ordering we asked for a portion of “skin on fries” the waiter gave a snobby comment of “is that all” before listening to the next guest at the table. Once the food arrived we were disappointed in the portion size especially as they had been priced at £3.50 on the menu. There was also an issue that they had far too much salt and vinegar seasoning. When we received the bill we were shocked to find they were priced at £4 a portion! This alongside the random £1 Baltic charge and an additional service charge of £1.05 which the team did not deserve in any way. Overall I would say my visit here was absolutely diabolical! We even heard the staff talking about us from where we were sitting.
Keep points, Staff have no manners, food is overpriced and over seasoned, staff are inappropriate in...
