Went in for lunch today and was very disappointed. Pointed out my glass was very dirty all round the outside which was only noticeable when some of the lemonade had been drunk. The lady who I pointed it out to said that some of the glasses are old and marked. I showed her you could rub it off and all she said “oh sorry” as she turned around and walked off. Not even an offer of a clean glass. So disappointed as customer service is everything, the way this was dealt with has meant I would never visit again or recommend to anyone. I am adding this comment to my review to respond to the reply to my comment. I don't think you're response, when I bought your attention to the dirty glass, was in our opinion, what was expected for good customer service. In our opinion your first comment should have been I'm sorry let me get you a clean glass, we had no idea you were going to check your other glasses when you just turned and walked away. I didn't comment about the food as it wouldn't have mattered if it was 5 star once I had realised I had been drinking out of a dirty glass and I had such a dismissive response to my complaint it spoilt the whole meal. The only reason I have left this review is purely based on your response to us if it had been dealt with there and then I wouldn't have felt the...

This is such a great little cafe! We holiday in Gloucester every year in November and found this place a couple of years back now. Since then its become a ritual that we visit for breakfast at least once during our holiday.

Its a wonderful little place, right next to the cathedral in a quirky old building. Theres always a lovely warm welcome and atmosphere here which we really enjoy. The staff are smiley and friendly and manage the busy service well. The breakfast is always top quality, hot and great value and there are good options for those not wanting a fry up, including a vegan breakfast option.

Theres 5 of us and a dog most times we visit with various dietary requirements and requests and the staff manage our complicated orders well and when we ordered an extra sausage for the dog it even came out already chopped up and cooled down ready for the pooch to eat! (We were quite impressed with that haha)

This really is a must visit cafe to any Gloucester local or visitor, but its popular and often busy so we always book and would reccommend...

The cafe is situated just next to cathedral abd I'm sure lots of tourists come to visit it fir a cup of coffee or tea. That was my first time to visit it. Its small place and stuffy in it,no fresh air,so I decided to be outdoor where there are some tables to sit on . I ordered French fries and a cup of coffee. I didn't wait long time it was served on time. Unfortunately I was disappointed when I saw hair on French fries and that was disgusting, and might be poisonous, I can't stand hair in the meal. My friend told me to take it easy. If your kitchen staff have long hair (any length that can be tied up or could fall in front of their face) or a beard (anything beyond stubble), then they should be wearing a hair/beard net. Stray hairs can fall into food, which is not only unpleasant but can contaminate foods. If in doubt about whether a member of the team should be wearing a hair net, err on the side of caution. Hope,my advice will help you to keep your staff well to...

When I was in residence as organist at Gloucester cathedral for a week two summer’s ago, we decided we should give this place a try somewhat later in our stay. I wondered if the pews came from the cathedral whenever they swapped them for chairs. I’m sorry to say we didn’t try this place sooner, as everything was beautifully done and well seasoned (which is not what I can say for the main pub in town that shall remain nameless, but perhaps they’ve since discovered salt). The lunch is still memorable to this day and the meat and mushroom pie was wonderful. The service was good and it was neat dining on a pew.

We spent some time in Gloucester yesterday and came to look at the Cathedral. This little place was nearby so we popped in for a drink. The lad came over to us and explained that he was very sorry but he could only do takeaway drinks as they were due to shut at 3pm. It was 2.57pm. Not a problem for us at all and it was nice he offered rather than just saying he couldn't help us. He was very polite as was the other girl that was working with him. Shame we didn't get there earlier as the cakes looked good but if we return to Gloucester we will pay it another visit.
