Nestled in a cozy corner of town, Shapla Indian Restaurant is a gem for lovers of authentic Indian cuisine. From the moment you step in, the warm ambiance and friendly staff set the tone for an exceptional dining experience. The menu is a masterful blend of traditional Indian dishes and creative chef specialties. I started with the vegetable samosas, which were perfectly crispy with a flavorful filling, and the tangy tamarind chutney added a delightful kick. For the main course, the chicken tikka masala was an absolute standout — the chicken was tender, and the creamy, spiced sauce was a perfect balance of heat and richness. Pairing it with the garlic naan, which was soft yet slightly charred, made each bite unforgettable. Another highlight was the lamb rogan josh — a slow-cooked masterpiece where the aromatic spices shone through, complemented by fluffy basmati rice. For vegetarians, the saag paneer is a must-try; the spinach and cheese dish is both hearty and comforting. The portions are generous, and the prices are reasonable given the quality and authenticity of the food. The staff are attentive without being overbearing, always ensuring water glasses are filled and checking in just the right amount. To finish, the mango lassi was a refreshing and sweet end to a meal that truly transports you to the heart of India. Whether you’re a fan of bold spices or milder flavors, Shapla Indian Restaurant offers something for everyone. It’s a place where food isn’t just a meal; it’s an experience. Highly recommended for both casual nights out and special occasions!

We sampled various dishes at this restaurant. My wife specifically requested no sugar in her meals, yet we found the Aloo Gobi unexpectedly sweet. This might not be due to added sugar, but perhaps from a pre-made sauce; we were not particularly impressed by it. On the other hand, the Tarka Dal was exceptionally flavorful, and both the Bhindi and Palak Paneer were quite delicious. Another downside was the Tandoori Roti's price - at over £3 each, it's notably more expensive than what we've seen elsewhere in the UK, where you can get nine for a similar price in Leicester. Overall, the experience was decent for the area.

Terrible experience. Waiters were rude, unprofessional, and walked away mid-conversation. Food was cold, burnt & portions were small, and they ran out of the drink we ordered after one serving. Shocking service—would not recommend. This will be my first and last visit!

Mixed feelings with this one - been few years ago and been great experience, so came back this friday. We been sit down to an empty table. There were quite full restaurant but most of people were eating and served. We were sitting for around 7min with empty table which had no menu. Were looking at staff waiting to approach but everyone gave feeling like they are not bothered. I had to ask my self for a menu so we could use the time to look for food instead of looking at everyone confused why no one bothers to come to us. Once our food arrived it was nice meal. But they did not provide any tissues - again i had to ask for napkins on the table as there was none. We had naan breads which one half was completely burned and we left that half and asked for another 2 while saying "please make sure chef doesnt burn these ones" and waiter took away the half of burned naan bread. I was surprised to see they still charged for the burned naan they took away (£4,50 for a naan bread without anything is very expensive). In general good food but visiting the place as a guest - not a nice experience. Waiting staff made us feel like we are inconvenience to the business. If you can take anything from this review - dont sit people to an empty table - without even a menu and then...
