Alto Gusto — Restaurant in Gravesham

We were exploring Gravesend and decided to try this restaurant. Lovely calm and peaceful atmosphere. Warm decor. Music not too loud which was very ideal. A lovely background music added to the chilled vibe.

The staff were very friendly, welcoming and kind. Attentive yet not intrusive. Nice balance, to check you have everything you need and yet they gave you time and space to enjoy the dining experience. The food was very good. Can't get more authentic Italian pizza's here! Highly recommend! 👍

The pizza base was ideal, not too hard to cut through unlike some pizza establishments. Just enough bite, not too thick or thin.👌

We ordered a garlic mushroom to share for sides. Very fragrant and a good balance of seasoning. Just👌. The pizza came out lovely and hot, perfect! 👌 Fresh ingredients and I really enjoyed the aubergines on the pizza. I had the vegetarian pizza and my husband had the pepperoni pizza I will definitely visit again, but next time with my family and friends to enjoy together.

Menus presented were clean, clean crisp table linen and clean utensil. Not sticky or dirty. Drinks served in glasses were nice and clean too. No dirty residue from washing.

I personally found the price to be very reasonable. Decent portion size, friendly and helpful staff and overall the experience has been very pleasant indeed.

I would give this place 3 1/2 stars if I could (for reasons I shall soon go into). On the plus side, this is one of Gravesend’s best restaurants for Italian/Spanish food. It replaced the impeccable Brasserie 32 and does not disappoint when it comes to food quality and menu choices. I came here for dinner on a very busy Thursday night and had a delicious ravioli followed by tiramisu.

While the food is excellent I must mention that we waited a very long time for both our courses. This was an exceptionally long wait regardless of the restaurant’s business (which considerably died down after our main meal).

I would recommend booking here as we were almost turned away (the waiter seemed a little agitated, which dampened our first impressions). I shall err on the positive as this restaurant has a great menu, but it is worth mentioning that we were mostly left waiting around with little to no update regarding our courses.

Overall, this place has something for everyone - offering tapas, steak, pasta, and pizza, as well as a nice wine and cocktail list (which I was unable to sample on a work night). I’ll be coming back here to try out some more dishes, and am particularly enthusiastic about seeing the lovely presentation of the food...
