Worst Jamaican food I’ve ever had. I ordered two jerk chicken meals (one small, one regular) and was extremely disappointed. The chicken was soggy and completely fell apart—bones included—as if it was stewed and then lightly grilled. It lacked any of that essential smoky, charred flavour you'd expect from authentic jerk. The rice was bland and completely tasteless.
To make matters worse, the chicken had an off-putting smell that made me question its freshness. We were only given one small tub of coleslaw for both meals, and even that was inedible—watery, sour, and clearly gone bad. It tasted fermented. The "jerk sauce" was more like sweet and sour sauce—nothing like real jerk seasoning.
I’ve tried Jamaican food at over 7 different places in Brighton, and this was by far the worst. For £25, this was a complete waste of money. If I could give 0 stars, I...
Read moreI went in about 20 minutes ago with my mum, Maria was lovely and super friendly amd greeted us straight away with a smile. The atmosphere as soon as you walk in instantly feels homely. It smells amazing, the different herbs and spices hit you soon as you walk in. I ordered the jerk chicken and I have just had a few mouthfuls before stopping and writing this review. It tastes amazing. The chicken is moist and full of flavour, the rice and peas are also moist and full of flavour especially with the sauce poured over the top! The planteen was sweet and slightly smoky and cooked perfect ! The quality of the food for the price is honestly unbeatable and they don't skimp on servings! I will definitely have to make a monthly allowance for this place! Its so hard to find good authentic food for a good price and with great service! What a find! Thank...
Read moreI'd seen the Bready's Delight van and felt interested many times, but never stopped. But I finally bought myself lunch at the Blatchingdon Rd Bready's Delight shop today and - oh my goodness! - so super delicious! I had the incredibly tasty and satisfying vegetarian 'coconut callaloo' which was served with rice and peas (and a couple of pieces of delectable fried plantain dropped in as an extra by the very nice lady in the shop). Now I know how genuine and tasty the food is, I'll be back to try other dishes. So if you're procrastinating a bit like I was, just do it. Really delicious home cooking, and my 'small' size portion was a very decent...
