I ordered via Uber eats and was left pretty (hugely) disappointed. The highlight was the pancakes, they came as expected and my 5 year old thoroughly enjoyed them they were the perfect portion size for him. I ordered the casa breakfast which is advertised as gluten free and £16 what it doesn’t stipulate is that it will come without certain items (sausage and black pudding) to meet the criteria of GF (you can get these items GF, just not from casa) if it was stipulated that the breakfast would not have these items, I would not have got it and I certainly wouldn’t have paid £16 for what I did get, the egg was small and rubbery, the mushrooms left a puddle in their wake, for the beans I received a sauce sized portion (you know the little tubs you get from takeaways for dipping sauce—that is the portion size provided for beans) and one v small slice of unbuttered GF bread, I did however receive 4 (small) rasher of streaky bacon that did not taste of maple syrup, safe to say it did not provide the expected substance nor did it come as advertised. I’m most definitely still hungry and feeling ripped-off. I also ordered a vanilla iced cappuccino, what I got was a hot(ish) standard cappuccino, it’s advertised under their ‘iced drinks’ but, once selected it goes through as simply a ‘cappuccino’ - so yeah, not what I ordered or wanted.
I called casa and spoke with a member of staff he apologised and said he would speak with the area manager who inputs the details into the Uber menu to have it corrected. He also stated he would see if he can *maybe get me refunded for some of it - I mean I should be refunded for the coffee in it’s entirety and preferably all of the casa breakfast as what I received is not what they advertised and that is their error, but I guess I would accept a partial refund for it? However, I’m not hopeful I’ll receive either as he didn’t tell me how or when this would occur. I would not order again. When you’re paying the money they’re asking what you get should be worthy of that price and this simply, isn’t. They’re seriously lacking when it comes to attention to detail and rectifying their errors. Not at all...
Read moreStyle over substance — Gremolata is more than chopped parsley!
Sure, the decor is nice, but you can't eat house-of-commons-style seating for breakfast. An iced americano was perfectly pleasant but the food was a disappointment. A measly, almost melba-thin slice of toast with half an avocado and a beautifully twirled but overcooked 1-and-a-half egg omelette. For £3 extra, you received a pitiful crumble of feta and not even fresh chilli—a teaspoon of dried chilli flakes.
The menu listing suggested that this would come with gremolata (a salsa that would have been appreciated on such a dry plate) but it was nowhere to be found. I looked underneath the egg, wondering if it was hiding under there, but no. No matter, I thought, the chef must have forgotten it. I suggest this to a waitress, who goes downstairs to check. She returns. "The chef tells me that the gremolata is the little bits of parsley on the top there"... the garnish.
I rarely leave reviews, and usually positive, but it's just not on to have people pay through the nose for something that is not only poor quality but also not what was promised. Casa has either put something on the menu that their chef cannot recognise—an embarrassment; or worse, are knowingly misleading their customers—an outrage.
With so many places in the West End for brunch, this is unacceptable. Do yourself a favour and go to...
Read moreMe and My partners initial plans were to go to the urban west cafe accross the road but unfortunately they were full! We should have waited because what happened after that was a nightmare!
We CLEARLY made the waitress aware that on one of the dishes we didnt want chipotle oil and little did we know half way through eating her meal my partner started feeling unwell which she still is and its now Monday night! The situation was handled terribly. Although the item was removed from the bill which seems to be common by reading the other reviews! My partner still hasnt recovered fully from it. The staff did not take this seriously enough and thought removing it from the bill and shooing us off was the best solution.
My food was cold and below average. Should have just stayed home and made lunch myself. Dont let the decor fool you. What good is the decor when the food is below average and causing people to feel ill! Dont waste your money on this place. There are plenty of other nice cafes in the westend....
