I had an absolutely amazing experience at Esquires Coffee in Northampton today for a deaf social event! ๐โจ The moment I walked in, I was blown away by the spaciousness and cleanliness of the place. ๐ข๐งน Despite it being a busy Saturday, there were plenty of clean tables available, and the option to reserve tables was a great convenience. ๐๐
I couldn't resist trying their hot chocolate, and oh my, it was pure bliss! ๐ซ๐ฅฐ The creamy, rich taste and perfect temperature made it a true delight for my taste buds. ๐ As if that wasn't enough, we also ventured into the world of milkshakes, and wow, I was amazed by the vast array of options they had! ๐ฅค๐ After much contemplation, I settled on the vanilla flavor, and it was absolutely delicious. ๐จ๐
While enjoying our beverages, I couldn't help but notice other customers enjoying their food, and it looked incredibly appetizing. ๐๐ I'm already looking forward to my next visit to try out their food offerings. The comfortable seating and availability of power outlets added to the overall experience, especially for those who wanted to work or make use of the super-fast and free Wi-Fi. ๐บ๐๐ป
All in all, my time at Esquires Coffee was simply outstanding. The spacious and clean atmosphere, the heavenly hot chocolate and delightful milkshake options, the enticing food choices, comfy seating, and the convenience of power outlets and fast Wi-Fi combined to create a truly enjoyable visit. I highly recommend this coffee shop to anyone in need of a cozy and welcoming spot to relax, socialize, or get some work done while savoring delicious treats. It's sad to see a once great cafรฉ go downhill. The coffee is still good but prices have gone up significantly, while at the same time the loyalty programme has been terminated, making your coffee even dearer. It's irritating that the management put up signs promising an 'exciting new loyalty programme coming soon'. Really? Nothing has happened for months. Even the signs promising 'coming soon' have disappeared.
The wifi has been increasingly unreliable for months. There is no connectivity at all this morning, 06 June 2025. I reported this to the staff. They are clearly not interested in doing anything about it.
Communication skills? Zero. I've repeatedly sent messages and asked questions on Facebook. The management can't be bothered to even acknowledge my messages.
I used to call in most mornings but now have found a friendlier, more respectful and cheaper place with better coffee. When I do call in, Esquires is almost empty. I see other ex-regulars like myself in one of two other excellent Northampton town centre cafes where they treat their customers properly.

ย ย ย Read moreUnfortunately this place has gone downhill. It has a nice vibe with comfortable seats and decent drinks but also a lot of issues. It's expensive and management seem to have responded to increased competition in the area by cost-cutting and jacking up prices, which seems rather counterproductive. It can get really hot in the summer (penny-pinching on the aircon?!). They have had a high turnover of staff (perhaps an indication of the quality of management) over the years which is frustrating as a customer as each time you go in staff don't seem to know what they're doing. You get frequent mistakes with orders, time after time. Again this is a MANAGEMENT issue - nearly all of the staff I've encountered are friendly and professional but are mostly poorly-trained international students left to run things on their own.
The nail in the coffin for me was to be told they no longer accept the esquires app as payment and are moving to some other system! I'm not sure if this is another counterproductive cost-saving exercise or what but I have ยฃ20 of credit on that and there are no other Esquires I visit!
