Oh, we wanted to like it here so much as we love seeing new places pop up in Glasgow! Based on reviews, we were sure we were going to have a nice meal. The male server was a very lovely chap, this is no reflection on his service as he was very nice. We were really excited to try the Sunday roast.
The haggis bon bons were tasty, but the Sunday roast was very bland. The meat was low quality/overcooked, a bit on the cold side, the sides for the roast weren’t good. Boiled basic veg, roasted potatoes that tasted out of a pack, mac & cheese that was very bland.
The apple crumble tasted stale, as if it had been left out of a pack.
We weren’t impressed, for this price point there are much better Sunday roast spots in Glasgow.
We would usually have said something, but to be honest, we were starving and just needed something to eat! Plus one of the female servers didn’t ask how our meal was when we were paying, I think she could sense we weren’t all that impressed.
I think this place may be ok for a soup/sandwich, but I think you need to really consider the price you’re charging for a very average meal. The photos on your website are very misleading as it looks nothing like that food.
I also found it to be fairly quiet and at one point, there was a couple that came in and they were going to be sat right next to us in the booth area (why sit them so close to one of the only other tables in the place? The couple actually requested another spot as I think they felt the same).
We would not recommend. Shame as the place has a very cute Scottish vibe! At the end, the friendly male server asked us how things were and we did tell him, and he did seem a bit disappointed that we had already paid and didn’t say - that’s on us but the female server wasn’t as approachable or attentive as he was.
Few hours later, we were feeling hungry again and went to one of our favourite...
Read moreSophie recommended this incredible restaurant when I was looking for a place to eat on the west end of Glasgow, just arriving in Scotland. My husband and I are visiting from the United States and do not have a car. It was a mile walk, "slightly" uphill and worth every step. I got the haggis, neeps and tatties. He got the venison, tatties and broccoli. I was raised on neeps and tatties, although we called them rutabagas and potatoes. Where has haggis been all my life? My husband's venison sausage was mild for game and very well seasoned. We also shared the most incredible honey cocktail, Seillean-Mil, The Honey Bee.
The staff is incredible, the food superb, and thsee two 60+ year old Americans are happy to have walked the two mile journey to experience their first real taste of Scotland at the...
Read moreThe food is fantastic, the service was even better! We went 2 nights in a row for dinner. Between the 4 of us at the table, we had the Haggis Bon Bons, the Haddock and chips and the Steak Pie. WOW to all dishes. To finish it off, we had the Sticky Toffee Pudding- it was amazing. Highly recommend you try this place out. The atmosphere is great and very welcoming. A special shoutout to Liam, our server on night 2, he made the experience that much more enjoyable. You won't regret being a patron of this...
