I had absolutely world class dosa’s here for late Friday afternoon lunch. On arrival (and impressively, without having to ask) I was given a lovely glass of chilled water with lime slices and then a complimentary serving of poppadom chips that were crisp, fresh and not at all oily. They came with a delicious mint chutney (that I could have eaten with a spoon!) and a sweet chilli sauce. I had a masala and paneer dosa - both were light and crispy, perfectly executed dosa’s; the fillings were a pitch perfect combination of salty, sweet, balanced spice and were served with a fresh coconut chutney, a creamy tomato and onion chutney and a delicious velvety sambar that had tomato, moringa beans and carrots through it - all dosa side sauces were delicious but the sambar is one of the finest I’ve tasted in a long time. I’ll definitely eat here again and would recommend to friends, family and anyone who loves delicious, well priced Southern Indian cooking. The restaurant is a lovely airy space tastefully decorated and was a lovely spot for a late sunny afternoon lunch with the restaurant windows opened and the sun streaming in. While the menu is not huge, it is perfectly curated and there is plenty of choice for meat eaters and vegetarians alike. The chefs here know their stuff. Prices were very fair - I’ve paid so much more and not enjoyed half as much in many other restaurants. A gem of a find. I got chatting with the owner and forgot to take...
Read moreHad heard a lot of good things about Ginger and Clove on Whitchurch road, so we dropped in for dinner on Saturday. We received a gracious welcome from the owners Matthew and Swapna. It is clear that this is not just another commercial venture given the amount of personal time and effort that has gone into creating a lovely ambience. Swapna must have spent a long while over a mural she painted over an entire wall a nod to the famous Indian cartoonist Mario Miranda. Service was excellent, Allan was polite and attentive. We seemed to have picked the right day as Dan Stockton a talented musician and singer entertained us to some of our favourite songs. Our meal started with one of the best Mojito's I have had in awhile. This was followed by ginger prawns, chicken 65 and gobi manchurian . My wife being a vegetarian found the options for main courses a bit restrictive but we were assured that the menu was in the developmental phase. For mains I had the lamb and my son kerala fish curry. The kerala pratha was light and flaky with barely any oil. Inspite of a busy evening Matthew spent a few minutes with all the diners adding a special touch to the service. We had a very pleasant evening which was down to the lovely ambience, warm personal service and good food. We will be visiting soon to try out the dosas as the chef is from the home of dosas...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this Indian restaurant, and from the moment I stepped through the door, I was thoroughly impressed. The service was exceptional — attentive, friendly, and perfectly paced. Every member of staff made us feel genuinely welcome.
The owner in particular stood out — warm, hospitable, and clearly passionate about creating a memorable experience for every guest. It felt more like visiting a friend’s home than a typical restaurant.
The decor was another highlight. Stylish, vibrant, and full of character, it gave the place a unique charm that really set it apart. The attention to detail in the design created a warm and inviting atmosphere throughout.
The bar area was spotless and beautifully presented — a real centrepiece of the space. Everything was clean, well-organised, and had a polished, upscale feel.
And of course, the food was absolutely delicious. Authentic Indian flavours, cooked with care and presented beautifully. You could taste the passion in every bite.
This restaurant delivers not just a meal, but an experience — one I’ll definitely be...
