The Heath Pub is an old-fashioned pub in the cathays area in Cardiff. It’s a classic pub with daily activities.
Ambience:
The pub is located by the road on a good spot beyond the crwys road, not very far from the University Hospital of Wales.
The pub itself is a huge one - divided into 3 areas including an outdoor beer garden. One area is dedicated for the daily events and the other one for gaming and stuffs.
The pub has an old- fashioned classic outlook, with classy wooden furniture and a fireplace. It also has a bunch of TVs installed at every corner where they screen sports every time something is on.
Activities - Sundays - Sunday roast for lunch, Dan’s Big Quiz at nights every week (hosted by Dan at 8:30 PM onwards every Sunday is probably one of the best pub quizzes in town, with price money at stake for the winners) Open mic nights on Tuesdays Karaoke on Wednesday nights Games night on Thursdays Live music on Fridays & Saturdays
They host these events amazingly well every week, and there are regular patrons who religiously attend them every week.
Food: Heath Pub offers a good selection of alcohol, cocktails, craft beer including the Brains - bitter and gold.
They also serve food and snacks.
Service: The bartenders and friendly and fun, and service has always been quick in serving. They also love to chat with the customers and make the atmosphere look friendly.

My verdict: Not the liveliest pub around, but definitely has something in it to attract customers and glue them as regular patrons. Have rarely seen it being crowded except during the events at nights. Would recommend attending the...
Read moreThree of us went for lunch here today. Parking is a problem but eventually we were lucky and got a parking space for 1hr outside. We arrived at 1.30 so we had until 2.30 - plenty of time - not! Ordered 2 mixed grills and a hunters chicken. Waited and waited and waited. The bar lady apologised for the delay as they were extremely busy. Apart from us three there were two other people?? She seemed amused? The food arrived 2.25. Hunters chicken - salad was stale - brown on the edges. Chicken had been kept under the grill had a hard texture, chips were cold. Mixed grills were difficult to identify the meats? Could not cut one of them. Chips were cold. Basically the worse meal we have ever had. The staff made no attempt to compensate for the delay they were obviously used to this on a daily basis. They looked 'Not bothered' about anything they were just there for their job. Waiting for almost 1 hour, served that standard of food and be charged £45.00 is an absolute disgrace. Definately will not...
Read moreWent to the Heath for a group Christmas meal, something we’d done in previous years with no issues.
As a large group we were asked to pre-order as you’d expect, but even so it took 2 1/4 hours from the booking time for everyone to get their main meals. The last main arrived almost 40 minutes after the first. Not all of the starters even arrived so some people were starving.
I had to leave after 2.5 hours so didn’t get a dessert.
When the food did arrive it had clearly been blasted under a heat lamp and looked very sorry and wilted. This is also the first time in years I’ve had sprouts which have been boiled into oblivion.
Service at the bar was glacial in addition to the food service.
Atmosphere was ok, but the furniture was all very tired and uncomfortable.
Very disappointed in what was once a...
