A lovely place in the heart of the town to enjoy light delights at a very reasonable price. On a blustery and solemn October day, I bought a cup of chicken soup and some breakfast tea. To my delight those provisions were accompanied with a fluffy and airy roll. If I have any major critique it is that I did not immediately see the sizable, atmospheric upstairs dining area, with its rustic wooden tables and old newspaper clippings plastered on the walls. The entire cafe seemed focused on takeaway, which is fine and makes sense given its central location, but I wish that I had been able to more clearly see the inviting dining area. There are a dozen satisfying cafes in St Andrews, but you will not be disappointed if you choose this one.

Quirky little place just of the main street. Almost missed it. Upstairs has a cosy little sitting area. Bit of a step back in time. Decorated in an unusual but homely style. Old ornaments reminded me of grans house. Liked the old pulley with the washing hanging from the ceiling. Post war tunes from the old wooden radio to complete the atmosphere. Small but tasty menu with some great food. Selection of teas, coffees and soft drinks. Even an irn bru float was available. The warmed scones were delicious as was the iced tea. Staff were accomodating and service was really good. Bit of a trek from Glasgow but if we get back to St Andrews we'll be sure to visit again. Thank you

A cute, cosy little café with retro British decor and a good selection of simple but luscious British fare, especially teas and freshly baked scones with clotted cream and jam. The 'Duke of Cambridge' or 'Prince of Cambridge' scones filled with berries are especially worth a try, and absolutely enormous for scones — with cream and jam, they can essentially constitute a lunch or dinner in themselves.

Been many times in previous years ans enjoyed it but I went today for brunch and I couldn’t eat the food it was that bad. First raw eggs. Sent back and the new plate had overdone eggs but with raw bits on the bottom (how that is possible I have no idea), , a stale cold burger bun that I expect had been frozen and not toasted. It was not fresh and not the brioche toast advertised. The dish was eggs, avocado and brioche toast and avocado tasted like it was a shop bought avocado style dip and not fresh at all. It had a hair in it 🤢 It also came with poor quality coleslaw and salad which is odd for that dish, tasted terrible and not as advertised. Just a terrible and unedible dish. Second dish was a gluten free toast with halloumi and scrambled eggs which was ok. Halloumi tasted like it had been cooked in a dirty pan so that also had to be left and we weren’t convinced the bread had been prepared to be gluten free so that too was left. The staff didn’t really seem to know what they were doing and not the most helpful when I informed them of the issues. They charged me fully even though we couldn’t eat it. The dining room was full of smoke from the kitchen which smelled like it was due to the kitchen staff using dirty oily pans and we left smelling strongly of fried food so we are going home to change our clothes and shower because it is that bad.

The Glaswegian men who ran the place when I visited previously did a fantastic job but now it feels like it is run by students who are not doing a good job. The coffee is great and scones look amazing but I decided to skip ordering a scone after the disappointment with the breakfast. Sadly...

We queued behind two couples on arrival and had to wait about ten minutes to be served takeaway. One panini, three cakes and two drinks were all we wanted. One of the guys started cutting the bread in the shop and was told to take it behind to prepare. Over five minutes later, out he came with the panini and put it on the grill. Meanwhile, the other guy started serving a couple who'd come in behind us, who wanted two drinks. They were given them. As our server wanted to get to the cake counter to get one of the cakes, they were in the way but pointed out that they hadn't paid. Rather than telling their server, who was doing nothing, that he needed to sort payment, our server stopped serving us and started serving them. Only once he'd faffed about and taken their payment, did he start on our drinks: a tea and a white Americano; simple. By now, the panini had been in for fifteen minutes. One of our party, waiting outside, protested that we'd been waiting half an hour and one of the servers became threatening and came out of the shop to challenge him. Eventually, we were handed our order: an overdone Panini, three cakes with no serviettes or cutlery (for the sponge cake) and a white Americano... only ot was black. Only the tea,was acceptable. We were charged nearly £20 for this - although first given a figure of £14. Do not, under any circumstances, engage with this business: one totally incompetent server and one rude and unpleasant; neither with any idea how to carry out...

Popped in during bus tour. Ordered two rolls and sausage, two soup - one lentil, one chicken and rice, two milky nescafe

Soup delicious and came with half a small crusty hot dog style roll with lots of butter.

Rolls and sausage were soft buttered baps containing two slightly anemic looking link sausages that looked too small for large bap. Tasty enough but couldn't help thinking another couple of minutes cooking would have been nice. I had requested the butter on the rolls and sauce was added to both before eating. I think they would have been really boring without the optional extras.

Coffee was hot and strong so can't complain.

Would definitely return for more soup and to try the humongous, delicious looking scones in the window. Staff were friendly and efficient.

Only downside is the amount of stairs to dining area. Same amount of stairs as in a standard house. Probably not suitable for...
