Reviews from all 3 of our visits (Finally getting around to posting);

21st Sep 2019 Myself and my partner visited The Globe Inn for dinner it was fantastic; the full experience from start to finish was great. Since Annandale distillery have become the new owners the refurbishments have made a huge difference to the atmosphere and the experience. The service was first class and we were attended to throughout the evening. Food was amazing the best food we have had in a long time, and exactly what Dumfries needs, a high-class restaurant in Dumfries designed around eating 3 courses. We had the pork cheek and haggis to start both full for flavour and great portion size. Main course we had the pork wellington each and the pastry was beautiful, dauphinois potato’s lovely and the sauce complemented the dish well. I also had the pecan tart which was a lovely end to the meal and the apple trifle was very sweet but exactly what my partner was looking for and thought it was delicious. Overall fantastic experience would highly recommend and can’t wait to try the lunch menu.

19th Oct 2019 After having a fantastic meal at the globe for dinner myself and my partner returned for lunch. We had the hand pressed burger and the red pesto and parmesan macaroni both lovely, really enjoyed it. We had read previous comments about the macaroni being not like traditional mac and cheese and people being disappointed but that’s because it’s not what it is. The menu clearly started it was red pesto and the macaroni is just the name of the pasta. Also saw people’s comments about the chips. We felt the chips were amazing lovely to see a restaurant providing handmade chips rather than frozen. Again, overall food was delicious, warm and well-presented and service was amazing.

15th Dec 2019 Myself and my partner had to come try the new Christmas menu having visited twice previously. Had the hand pressed burger and savoury scone with turkey filling. Again, was not disappointed food was outstanding, exactly what we were looking for at a great price. Lovely fresh food, warm, well presenting and beautiful hand cut chips. Can’t wait for try the new menu in...

I've been meaning to leave this review for some time. My partner and I visited one Wednesday in December last year. We were staying in the area for a few days and heard that the globe inn was good so booked ourselves a table as a treat. It was a wee quiet wet & miserable wednesday pre-christmas and arrived unsure what to expect, we didn't really look into it any further after we made the reservation. My goodness we were blown away!!!! What a phenomenal meal. The attention to detail, quality of ingredients, originality, presentation and everything tasted delicious. Just stunning!!!! Shout out to jonny (I think) who served us. We couldnt decide which menu to go for, and we're glad we took his advice and choose the tasting menu. Jonny was very warm, welcoming and knowledgeable about the plates that we were was served. He even took us a tour around the historical building after. We were surprised to learn he was fairly new on the job, seemed like he had been there for years. The globe inn is worthy of a higher rating on Google than it currently is. We would 100%%% return next time we are in the area. Thanks for a...

Went for a last minute meal to The Globe booked on the day on the booking system, easy enough. Been living in D&G for 18 yrs now and been meaning to go. I promise not to make it as long until the next time. When you walk in you get a sense of the age of the place, with its wonky floors, old oak features and Rabbie Burns images. We were greeted on arrival. The atmosphere was pleasant and there were more intimate rooms for couples sharing a romantic evening. We were surprised by the amues bouche that was delicious and we chose a main each, a glass of wine and a dessert. A tiny point is the Riesling should have been colder, and the cost was at the top end of a meal out, but very very much worth it. I’m not sure I’m a fan of the carpet in the restaurant, but I guess that’s personal. The massive fun and creative painting on the rear wall gives you a sense of the bustling bygone times. The service was also black gloved and excellent. Would thoroughly recommend I want to go back for the 7course tasting menu...

The last time we visited The Globe Inn we took visitors there as it was the old pub were Robbie Burns used to drink. So when we were told we were going there for a fine dining taster experience, we didnt know what to expect. What a change, The snug area still remains but what was the main bar area is now a refurbished restaurant, with a fine dining menu , served by staff wearing gloves. To complement the taster menu there is also an optional whisky taster where each glass is picked , served, .its origin and how it will complement the food course is explained to you as it is served. Overall it was a good evening , the staff were attentive and polite, the food was very well presented and full of flavours. We did feel our table was a little to close, even without Covid, to those either side of us and the chairs even with cushions started to feel slightly uncomfortable nearer the end of the evening, but these things didn't detract to much from the overall enjoyment.
