I was hoping in a different town, ran by different people, this world buffet would be perhaps just that, different but not so. I can never fully get to grips with the problem that is the canteen like stainless steel tray presentation of somewhat bland, tasteless food. After my last visit to such a restaurant in Glasgow. I said i wouldn't do it again but under pressing circumstances tonight in Ayr i was persuaded by a friend to partake. The whole deal is an enigma. Firstly i have watched prices rise in general at buffets from £11.99 to tonight £16.99 which didn't even include a coffee. Some items were great, well presented and reasonably tasty. Other items were not so good. A lot of the problem is blandness and lack of any real flavour. The veg samosas are awful, just like those 20 odd in a bag frozen efforts from iceland. Practically devoid of any veg really just lumps of deep fried batter. There was a problem tonight with a batch of chicken tikka which at my behest was swiftly removed from the buffet cos it was very unfit for consumption. Staff were very attentive and apologetic over this incident which is to their credit. There were some lovely cold desserts on offer but the apple crumble, a favourite of mine i totally avoided as it was pure unpallitabe stodge with the texture of concrete. You cannot fault the range of choice , it is enormous, with everything kids like healthy or not. All down to personal choice. Better than others i've been to but still lacking the things that would really make a visit a worthwhile experience. I really need to learn from that experience and make better...
Read moreBeen a few years since i was last at this place. Came in tonight with my partner for a quiet, relaxing meal but unfortunately that wasn't to be the case. No issue with the food however, I think it was Mr Basrai himself after taking our drink order he decided to come over to the table on another 3 occasions, asked me about 20 questions when I'm trying to eat.
On the 3rd occasion whilst eating my dessert,he came up and asked why i did not try anything from the live meat and seafood cooking section. At this point it was starting to feel like an interrogation, also it made us feel uncomfortable letting me know I'd been watched like a hawk as i went round to choose my food.. I shouldn't have to explain why I didn't have any seafood or anything from the live cooking section. I shouldn't need to explain that I don't like seafood or that i ain't really a big eater, one plate, one dessert is enough for me!..Then upon paying the bill, another question...So what do use have planned now?... By this point i felt like saying why, what's it to you?!. Just a simple hope you enjoyed your meal and enjoy the rest of your night would suffice.
If you ever read this Mr Basrai, if you come up once to ask if everything is OK, that's fine. But 3 times?... No need for that. Perhaps just let you're customers relax and enjoy their meals, try not to come over and put them on the spot with...
Read moreDuring my recent visit to Mr Basrai's World Cuisine in Ayr, I was excited to explore a wide range of culinary delights from around the globe. Located in a convenient area, the restaurant boasted an inviting atmosphere with modern decor. The extensive menu showcased an impressive variety of cuisines, including Indian, Chinese, Italian, and more. I indulged in several dishes, and overall, the food quality was commendable, with flavorful and well-presented options. The service provided by the staff was attentive and friendly, as they promptly took our orders and catered to our needs. The ambiance of the restaurant added to the overall dining experience, with a comfortable seating arrangement and pleasant background music. In terms of value for money, the pricing seemed reasonable considering the generous portion sizes and the overall dining experience. Although I didn't encounter any standout features, the restaurant provided a satisfying and enjoyable meal. To improve, the restaurant could consider incorporating more unique offerings or adding some special touches to enhance the dining experience. All in all, I would recommend Mr Basrai's World Cuisine for those seeking a diverse and flavorsome...
