Pret A Manger — Restaurant in Great Britain

I’ve been going to this Pret for years and always had a great experience. I popped in to buy a sandwich before I started work and asked for the mall discount as I normally would. The lady who served me has worked there for years and has served me multiple times and has always been so friendly, it got to the point I wouldn’t need to ask for mall discount and she just knew it was me and would do it. For the discount you need an app to show you work in the surrounding shops and ive recently changed stores and my current manager isn’t great with technology and doesn’t know how to use it. The lady serving me refused to give me the discount without the app to which I explained the above and another server walked past and said “how can they not know how to use the app?” And the lady serving me says “I know they’re a bunch a doughnuts aren’t they”. I could clearly hear what they both said and they were laughing. I completely understand showing the app, Im not upset about that at all, I’m more so frustrated at the fact they were both talking like that and so I could here what they were saying, I find...

I was pretty disappointed with my visit to Pret A Manger. I actually spotted a fly on the food behind the counter which was really off putting. In the picture I’ve included, you can see the fly circled in red, and in the video you can see it moving for confirmation. For a company as big as Pret I would have expected better food hygiene and maybe even a fly catching machine in place. It definitely wasn’t a great look for the cafe.

On a brighter note, I did really enjoy the raspberry lemon drink. It was super refreshing, nicely balanced, and just what I needed to cool down a bit.

The tuna pita was okay, but slightly on the drier side. The vegetables inside were fresh though, and it had a nice crunch which was good. Whoever wrapped it up didn’t do the best job as the pita started to unfold as soon as I took it out of the packaging which was a bit frustrating. The worst Pret I have ever been to and I’ve been to this one 4 or 5 times, but no longer. For a start tables are left without being cleared for ages, and when they are you usually see crumbs, no one seems to wipe things down with a damp cloth. There are always flies around the bins and the whole place needs a good clean. On Sunday I went in with my toddler and with 4-5 staff behind the counter in plain view I had to completely wipe down my table before we could eat on it. The floor was disgusting as well. And they weren’t even that busy.

Also the food isn’t prepped as well as other places. Paying a premium for the name in this instance and that is coming from someone who doesn’t dislike Pret if it is done right. I dread to think how hygienic the homes are of the people who work in these places if they let their workplace get into...
