Staff unfit for purpose. We saw a bewildered middle-aged couple being asked to leave at 5pm on a Saturday, for no other reason given by the male bartender otherthan they'd "had five drinks". In an Irish pub for goodness' sake. They were well-behaved and perfectly coherent. Cathy the manager hid out back, mouthing to my wife "have they gone yet". She then was pleased to tell us she'd put out their descriptions to other bars over Nightwatch radio so their evening out in Torquay was now over. Soon after, 4 happy (and well-behaved) ladies of varying ages, dressed as cowboys, entered only to be turned away by Cathy, who proudly told me she told them "a little lie" that she'd heard they'd been circulated for no-entry over the Nightwatch radio. Been coming to Torquay for the past 35 years and frequentedvthis pub whether it was in the summer or winter months. Always a welcome from the staff aprt from today. Waited for a table to become free and saw one of the window seats was. Lovely spot sat there many dozens of times but we sat down today we were served our drinks when we were told we would have to move because 6 persons had just come in and we that was the only table for 6. Our waitress was lovely and said there wrte other tables free in the pub. I explined we had been eaiting fot this seat because of the view and I didn't want to move. I was then confronted my a very rude manageress who insisted we move not even a please so I asked for my money back and leftbnever to frequent one of our favorite watering...

After planning to go there for some time we finally did yesterday evening. As we entered we were disappointed at what we found inside. No live music as mentioned outside, every Friday and Saturday evenings and the table we sat at, outside the gents, was unfriendly, dull and without any atmosphere. The built in small stage was dirty and empty. The piped music was barely audible, yet more volume heard from outside. The whole experience was poor and we won't be returning. Drinks were expensive and unlike the previous review in our opinion. Shame they shut Ryans Bar which seemed a lot...
