Was staying in Oswestry for a couple of nights so I looked to see if there was an Indian in the town, & boy was I glad I did as the place is just amazing. There are plenty of tables but it was quite busy for a Wednesday night so it will definitely be busy on a Friday & Saturday so best to book. They have a great choice on the menu, plenty of speciality meals, starters, the usual meals like Kormas, masalas etc & a selection of rice's & naan breads.
My husband had the tandoori chicken to start & that was delicious with good chunks of chicken. For our main we ordered a chicken curry, (sorry the name escapes me) with garlic rice and it really was soo good. The poppadoms were excellent too as not greasy but crispy & came with onions, mango, lime pickle & a spicy red one š I have to say it was one of the best Indian meals I've ever had, I really couldn't fault it at all, I wish I lived local to it š The staff are wonderful & extremely helpful, they have been in business for 45 years which says...

I have been there multiple times since the food used to be good. But from last few times, the service at the restaurant is ruining my experience of the restaurant. I am a pure vegetarian and I ordered a veg thali which has 5 veggies. The staff replaced 2 of the veggies with chicken dishes. And when asked, they were just smiling and said , "it happens". That's the attitude of the restaurant. Last time, when I went with few of my friends, one of the staff directly insulted my friend when he was paying the bill by calling him fat and saying that he shouldn't be eating chocolate since he is already over weighed. I am not going to a restaurant to hear these comments which just ruins our entire evening. Supreme disappointed with the staff of Simla and its black...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHubbie took me here for a birthday meal. Waste of money. The sides were too salty, the main course bland and hubbies veggie curry contained very little veg - some potatoes and peas in a sauce!!! We already had ordered Bonbay potatoes (very mild) and rice with peas. So considering in the kitchen rhet have access to peppers, onions, mushrooms and loads of other veg just wondered why some of that could not have been used Def not a place for vegetarians. Do NOT reccomend. The staff were over the top. 4 different waiters coming up all the time. We were even interrupted whilst having our appetizers as they wanted us to order rest of meal. When we did complain about veggie curry just told Oh I will go and smack the chefs hand!!!! s on negative side very few positives - poppadoms, naan bread...
