The Globe — Restaurant in Great Britain

It's a great and alternative venue in the heart of Hay-on-Wye. We had my exhibition here which went really well. It's just that they were doing too much on the same night. The new manager hadn't orderd the food for a wedding the best day in time for the chef to prep in the day so that meant he was prepping when my exhibition launch was going on and the kitchen is an open plan one with the restaurant downstairs. And there were bowls, plates and glasses on a table which wouldn't normally be there for the following day. The bride's friends bought the cake in and that went over on the other side of the room. It just shouldn't have been there I was worried one of my guests would accidently knock it. Saying all that, the exhibition went well I just don't think there was much thought that had gone into the timing of everything. I attended the weekly Open Mic event at this great location. Not knowing what to expect, I was impressed by the way the old Chapel has been adapted. There is a cute, well-stocked bar on entry, spotlights to the stage, very comfy long pews with cushions around the sides, tables and chairs in the centre, a proper stage and a top-of-the-range PA. Bill, the sound engineer is spot-on, using an iPad to control the different inputs and achieving a good balance. Chris Bradshaw is mein host, and organises the performances well with a nice bit of banter with audience and artistes. The quality of the performances the night I was there was superb. My daughter chose The Globe at Hay on Wye for her wedding venue. It was a beautiful choice. The wedding venue was wonderfully decorated, all of the staff, from the bar staff to the restaurant staff and the wedding planners were so hard working and very helpful. There is a spacious garden area, and as the day was quite warm, it was super to be able to mix outside with other guests. The food served was of an excellent standard and such generous portions. It was truly a day to remember made all the more so by the beautiful settings provided...
