Went down to Green Room restaurant on its opening day, and had an amazing experience. A nice little restaurant run by the owner-chef all by herself. A mixture of African, English and other cuisines. It’s got variety in its menu, featuring dishes from Italian and other cuisines as well.
Excellent food and service, well curated menu suitable for a variety of taste buds. It’s a small place with just about 5-6 tables. Right now it’s a small business with just the owner running it all herself, which means a wait of about 30 minutes per item is expected, but it’s worth the wait. There’s a good selection of starters, mains and desserts in the menu. Also very accessible given its location in Taunton city centre, on the station road.
Tried these items there: starters - Garlic Bread with mushroom, Hummus (with olives) Mains - Bruschetta, Oven Cooked Salmon Risotto, slow cooked beef dish Desserts - Apple tart with ice cream, cake

Read moreSo dissapointed by this. From the outside and the reviews I was excited to try a local place and really want to write a good review but my experience today was pretty bad. Decorated beautifully but no substance. Really miserable servers, especially the one we had who didn't understand what we were ordering so we had to point on the menus. Didn't smile, barely made eye contact, didn't clear away plates or bring the bill at the end so we went up to ask.
Expensive prices for breakfast (considering you have Corner club or other brunch places in Taunton for £7-8 bracket!). Pancakes were store bought rather than made (literally watched them come out of the packet!!). Coffee was okay, but comes out of a machine like at the service station (so not refilled with fresh coffee after each one) nespresso at home was definitely better. Food was dry, and the bacon had just been dumped on the top (not made as part of the sauce or incorporated in any way and wasn't crispy? See pictures) and literally cost them £2-£3 to make but me £10.90.
Music was a constant repeat on YouTube of generic coffee shop jazz.
Overall - trying to be something it's not. Will not...
Read moreLovely relaxed restaurant and staff, and very nice decor. I went in thinking I’d have something light due to the hot weather but somehow opted for the roast beef, I’m so glad I did. It was probably the best roast I’ve ever had. The meat was lovely and tender (sourced from the butcher across the road), the roast potatoes and vegetables were cooked perfectly. Really tasty cauliflower cheese. I also opted for a pudding of apple tart with ice cream and caramel sauce - amazing, and coffee. In short it was fantastic food, service, atmosphere and surprisingly reasonable. I’ll definitely be...
