So, where do I start? The Marlborough’s transformation is absolutely incredible - massive respect to the people who transformed the building. The attention to detail is phenomenal - from cocktail menus printed on 7” vinyls in the vinyl bar; to the classic furnishings in the ballroom complete with disco ball and the events that the Marlborough is hosting. I went on a Saturday night firstly, where we enjoyed DJs and also live music/singers in the ballroom and the atmosphere is incredible. Not to mention the prices are very reasonable for the area and for the experience of stepping into a venue like this. I really think the staff are very accommodating, the vibes of each room offers an experience for any kind of person and vibe that you’re feeling each time you go. It really feels like an adult playground in the best way. I think the events team have done a stunning job of creating experiences that you don’t get anywhere else in the southside in one place - jazz nights on a Sunday feels like stepping into a different era, the vinyl bar where you can pick out a vinyl of your choice to be played by handing over the bar staff and the balcony seating over the ballroom with the disco ball in the middle is such a dazzling experience. I would highly recommend visiting here for a totally different experience that channels many unique vibes and homage to the past in a contemporary way is really spectacular. 10/10 and I can’t wait to go back everytime I am there. The fact that we have a venue central to the southside with so many types of nights is really something and I can’t wait to see what other events come up over summer!! Thank you to everyone who has made me and my friends feel like VIPs every time we have...
Read moreThe inside layout is very pretty and classy so if you're looking for more of a sophisticated cocktail night out then this is your place. However for me and my friends it wasn't a great night. My friend went into one of the toilets and said she could see the wires still sticking out the wall so we guess they ran out of time to finish updating the toilets. We then proceeded to go into the club section at 11pm which was practically empty, we didn't like the music as it wasn't the charts, throwbacks or even old school it was just songs without any words but I understand everyone has different music tastes. Then we waited in a line for about 15 minutes with only 2 bartenders serving on opening weekend only to find out when we got near the front that they had ran out of lemonade. We then went to the cocktail lounge which is beautiful but again the music just wasn't to our taste, we thought we would have at least known one song in one of the rooms but did not. We ended up leaving after only an hour and a half after paying £11 each to get in on the website. We spoke to a few people while inside and outside waiting for taxis and did hear a lot of the same comments and then found out from others that they also ran out of vodka. If you loved the Shed like us then this will probably not be your cup of tea but if you like more of a relaxed night out drinking prosecco and listening to smooth songs then you will probably like the cocktail lounge but that was just...
Read morePainfully slow (and incredibly rude) service
Beautiful venue but service is appalling. We were in for a “Gameshow”night which was an actually just a bog standard and pretty boring (and badly written) quiz. In a large group but they were insisting on table service, which would be fine if they could manage it. Tabs were paid off and then rude staff came over demanding payment because they had forgot to close it off, and it took them a good 10 minutes to sort despite us providing receipts of what we had paid for. Not a word of an apology and the dark haired girl was positively obnoxious - our entire table was pretty appalled. We asked them could we order at the bar as they seemed incapable of working out a tab and we were told yes, only to go up to the bar and be told to sit down it was table service only. Another waiter came over and slammed the pints down and said (unprompted) “I know it took ages but we were really busy” - it wasn’t - it was a pretty dead Tuesday evening with half the tables empty so good luck to them on a busy Saturday night. Staff just rude and unhelpful and didn’t seem to know what’s going on. They’ve clearly spent a fortune doing it up - pity they couldn’t spend some time or money on staff training or how to use a...
