I was there with a few mates playing pool with a couple of Irish lads. We were having a laugh no problem or trouble. Lovely gents. Seen them there plenty of times and they got on with everybody. The landlady approached them and blatantly said they have to leave and basically blamed them for doing something in a different venue a week or 2 beforehand. She admitted she wasn't there so how could she accuse these patrons of something with no proof? The lads explained that they weren't there at the time and the landlady (Claire) said she knows it wasn't them but they have to leave. It was blatant prejudice and racism. I was shocked at what happened so I left with my mates. Its terrible when this day and age, racism and stereotyping is still being used as an excuse to evict revellers based on an opinion, not fact or proof. Terrible place with terrible management. A racist establishment with 18th century views. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. RACIST...
Read moreI work in a bar so I understand when someone is having a bad day since I have had many myself, however this does not entitle you to treat customers badly. When I ordered my first drink I also asked politely for the barmaid to dispose of my rubbish - she went about pouring my drink but ignored my request. When returning with my drink I asked her again to dispose of my rubbish to which she took my rubbish but had a terrible attitude announcing "No please or thank you?". I thought nothing of it and continued with my night but when I later returned to the bar i was surprised when I was refused service because I had been rude. I have been to the Royal George several times previously and I have always enjoyed the atmosphere and the decor however, with staff like this I am not surprised that I see it empty so frequently. I will not...
Read moreThis place no longer serves food and there's usually only two very rude regulars that laugh at people if you go in. The atmosphere is very dead and hostile. My last experience with this place was when I was on my way home, I began to feel faint, as I have a fainting condition, I went in to sit down for a few minutes. I was there for under 3 minutes before the owner was banging on my table with his FIST and threatening to kick me out, I was not well enough to explain why I was there and that I was going to buy a drink in a second I just had to sit down but he continued to threaten me and say he was going to call the police. The two locals in the pub laughed at me and jeered while the landlord defended them. Absolutely despicable way to treat probably the only customer under 70 they've...
