Thomas The Baker is the man Gregg wishes he was but never will be. This epicurean marvel has been vending a range of savoury and sweet pastries, sandwiches and assorted hot and cold drinks from numerous outlets across York and North Yorkshire for 44 years now. Sustaining generations of hard and soft working Yorkshire and none-yorkshire folk, Thomas has evidently managed to instill his values of fresh, high quality food served with a smile in the majority of his delightfully amenable team members. The Bishopthorpe rosd outlet is no exception to this rule. Today I was served a delicious, hot, freshly cooked Chicken bake by a very friendly member of team Thomas. The shop was clean, well appointed, and fairly quiet at c.10:30 on a Friday morning. They were well stocked at this time, likely in anticipation of the lunchtime rush which I understand is customary in the industry. As an aside, I would really recommend a trip to the Thomas The Baker in Helmsley if you are a fan of their work. That place is pretty special.

We made sure to fin to 100% to not end in a GREGGS! My partners sister lives in York and had been to another branch of this company and really liked it, the map said just 7 minutes away, we parked in the car park just before it , I stayed in the car and asked for either a Cornish or steak bake & either a Yorkshire curd tart or vanilla slice. Returning in couple of minutes, with a stake bake for me , and what looked like a thick deep slice of a sausage roll to me , a deli roll I think , it was gone so quickly I didn't get chance to try it! My stake bake was still warm , with just the right amount of flaky pastry and very tasty beef filling, the Curd tart was a good one , not too dry and not soggy, filling with raisins and had a sort of refreshing light lemon taste . Partner had a couple of Easter biscuits, We drove back past the back of the racetrack and a left turn just after the Bishopthorpe Palace , and sat by the river where you can hire boats out. Recommend

Many choices of pastries, with reasonable prices. I like the scones, £2.60 for four, I picked all four in different flavours. The orange chocolate Danish is also good if you like sweet stuff 😋

I honestly don't write reviews that often but, it's not the first time I've been to this branch and had attitude and hostile behavior from the lady with the brown hair and glasses, the few times I have been in i find her really rude and agressive, her level of customer service is really poor and an overall bad experience everytime I've used, I won't be using...
