I cannot begin to tell you what a let down this restaurant is. Considering its location, you’d think they would do better. We popped in for a quick lunch on a Tuesday afternoon.

The food was less hit and more miss. We ordered the lasagne which was actually okay, a couple of pizzas (one gluten free) calamari and garlic bread.

Firstly, you cannot call what was given to us pizza as it’s a lie. The only similarities in what a pizza is and what we were served was the shape. If you want decent pizza, go to Cresci or Spaghetti Junction which is across the road. No charring on the pizza, no cornicione with crunchy edge on the outside and light and soft on the inside. Please advertise as ‘our best effort at pizza’ and the correct methods or just don’t make pizza.

The calamari….£9 for around 10 pieces of frozen calamari is an absolute joke. The garlic bread looked like it had been bought at Tesco and there was a distinct lack of garlic with oddly, a tomato sauce on it.

The lasagne was their only saving grace.

Let’s get onto the customer service. Disappointing to say the very least. Once we were eventually seated, we were left in the wilderness for around 10 minutes. When our order was eventually taken, the waitress was attentive although I have issues with my food and drink order taken in one go. The whole place looked highly disorganised, staff sat at the bar on their break, staff eating behind the bar and a severe lack of actually being felt like we were welcome. When it came to leaving we asked for a box for our unfinished pizza. You would have thought we had asked them to get out of a complex escape room for all the time it took. I left extremely disappointed by the whole experience. How this place is still in business is beyond me. For what they provide, they definitely shouldn’t be. What was most upsetting is that I had to pay for the ordeal.

P.s. if you are going to advertise carbonara, have the decency to list with the correct ingredients. Cream and bacon don’t belong anywhere...

I was so disappointed by this restaurant, after reading all the amazing reviews I had such high hopes so I booked to go for my partner’s birthday. It took forever for the server to come over for our drinks order and in the middle of taking it her friends turned up and she stopped to hug them and say hello before finally turning back to us, it took nearly an hour to take our food order and when the food came it was very average. Overcooked calamari, spicy red sauce mussels when we had asked for them in white wine and the plain garlic bread covered in tomato sauce. The mains were fine but not fantastic and just throughout the evening I felt we were not being seen to. We had to flag down servers to get more drinks and had to go up to the bar to get the bill because our server had sat down with her friends and was of no help that evening. I really hate leaving reviews like this but we will definitely not be going back here. Just feels like a waste of time, effort and money...

As someone that lives locally and has been in here hundreds of times I won't be returning, we came in for ice cream with my son and partner, there was a rather loud violin duo playing and I moved across the ice cream counter to see what other flavours they were as I have problems with my right eye and my sights a little restricted, only to be told rather rudely by a certain waitress,"can you move out of the way of the music",I was trying to purchase ice cream and was there a matter of seconds! what's the point of having a band right in front of the ice cream servery?! I was absolutely furious to be spoken to in that manner, the waitress has often been abrupt before and I have over looked it,the service from her and in general has gone down the pan since it opened up as an evening restaurant, this place...

An amazing find , will travel back to York just to visit. I've never eaten in a Sicilian restaurant before and was not disappointed. It is similar to Italian food, but much more refined than rustic like it's Italian neighbours. We had chickpea fritters and chicken wings to start. Loads of incredible subtle flavours. Then we had the calzoni and a mushroom pizza . The calzoni was massive but every bite was different. The mozzarella was amazing as was the rich tomato sauce. The best we have ever had of these two meals anywhere, including new York and Venice. They also have an ice-cream bar which has amazing fresh ice-cream. Average price for York, top notch quality for anywhere in the world.

Outstanding. We started with the arancini with mozzarella and prosciutto - crisp outside, soft flavorful inside with a lovely center of creamy cheese and ham. Best I've ever had. We followed it with an amazing pizza (pictured). A perfectly baked crust, a bold, tasty, fresh tomato sauce, and an incredible combination of toppings. That is ricotta, Sicilian sausage, sundried tomatoes, and ground pistachio (which I never thought to put on pizza). It was spectacular. Service was friendly, helpful, and attentive.
