Went on a Saturday evening 5pm booking. The Chinese selection is good but the same as most all you eats eg chicken curry sweet and sour chicken beef in black bean sauce and katsu chicken I will say though all fresh hot and tasty so no complaints didn't try the rice as it's a filler food and I'm there to get the meat sweats not get my rice but again the rice did look good as did the noodles. The Thai pork dish is a must try. On to the Indian side again it was your usual all you can eat was hoping for a spicy curry (I may have missed it) what I did try from the selection was nice and flavorful so again no complaints. I didn't try the burgers but they are cooked fresh which is a plus as not many places I have visited do that. I didn't try the roast as there aren't many if any that can beat me mums roast dinner. The sushi was a hit with my daughter so was the mac n chesse. I had a couple of slices of peperoni while nice it's a filler food and I want my meat. On to the desert section I'm not a fruit person so I was some what limited as some of the cakes had berries on them again this is a personal preference. The iced donut balls was nice though. They did have a crumble with warm custard but again fruit just isn't my thing and an added option would have been nice. Like mcdonalds the ice cream machine was broken so can't comment on it. I did try the chocolate fountain which to my surprise it wasn't Hazel nut flavor but a standard milky chocolate so a win from me there. The drink I would say are a bit expensive at 3.20 for a small bottle of glass coke didn't look at any of the other items on the drink menu but I'd guess they are problem a lil inflated. My only real problem was other customers who got up your arse when you was looking at food or selecting food and the woman making her pancake rolls stopping everyone else getting to that selection. Cost me just shy of 45 quid for me and my daughter with drinks, would I go again most...
Read moreWe visited Umami today for my husbands birthday meal, 4 adults and a very excited 2 year old!
We were seated promptly and we were able to place an order for our drinks almost immediately.
This was our second visit and on both occasions the food has been lovely, all very hot and fresh with a superb selection so there is something for everyone (my personal favourites are the sweet and sour chicken and green bean veggies - although my daughter would definitely vote for the pizza selection and chocolate fountain!!)
What really impressed us today & will ensure we return in the future however, was the incredible customer service. I am currently 5 days overdue with my second child and battling my way through this heatwave, I would cry about it but I really can't spare the moisture.
After eating a plate of delicious food I started having what can only be described at a hot flush moment and started fanning myself with a drinks menu in an attempt to cool off and feel less dizzy.
At first a young waiter with glasses in a green work shirt spotted me and asked if I would like some more ice water for the table and rapidly bought over an ice cold fresh jug which struck me as a super thoughtful act without us having to ask.
Secondly a lady with blue hair in a red shirt also saw I was struggling with the heat and put the overhead fan on and told me it would be cooler in a few moments and I would feel the difference, which again was incredibly thoughtful of her to notice and take action.
The fact the staff were so attentive and helpful made our experience so much nicer and I genuinely believe that great customer service is a rarity these days, but the staff have put our experience here head and shoulders above other restaurants we have been to lately. So a huge thank you and please don't think your kindness went unnoticed because you have absolutely won over some new faithful customers!!
Thank you once again - we...
Read moreWe hadn’t booked but on a very busy Friday evening they managed to fit us in as a table of 20 hadn’t bothered to turn up!!! We were seated promptly.
The cons:
The tables are quite close together and a rather rude man sat at the table next to ours decided to “man-spread” into the small gap between the tables. This made it so hard for my husband to get in and out and the guy made no attempt to move over. The drinks we ordered somehow got lost in the system. We had to chase them up with 3 members of staff before they finally arrived 30 minutes after they were ordered.
The pros:
The food was plentiful! So many choices! Pizza, Chinese, Indian, sushi, roast dinners, Teppanyaki bar, kids favourites and desserts including lovely creamy soft ice cream and custard. I chose Chinese foods. All items were hot and very tasty. I had beef and mushroom, char siu pork, noodles, duck with pancakes and prawn crackers followed by cheese cake bites and ice cream. It was all really nicely cooked and very well presented.
The service area, despite how busy it was, was clean, tidy and well stocked.
There were loads of staff! The plates were cleared quickly and it was easy to get staff’s attention for any queries (extra serviettes, glasses for water etc).
——— For how much food some people were piling onto their plates, I’d say it was excellent value for those with larger appetites. The Friday night price of £20.99 (adults and kids over 155cm) made it, for us, reasonably priced. If you have a very small appetite, it mightn’t be such good value. My mum eats little more than some small children so a pensioner price for quieter times might be nice for her but sadly this isn’t a thing so I’m not sure she’d come. She’s definitely under 155cm so perhaps she could have a kids deal 😆
Total price for 3 of us including drinks (2 pints of beer, 2 Appletisers) and service charge was around £80.
I will...
