We have reviewed this place before but as a lot has changed in the world since our last visit this is an up to date posting. First off: The staff are the same. Same friendly welcome. Same professionalism. Secondly we thoroughly enjoyed our meals here during our weeks holiday in GY. We tucked away three breakfasts, two steaks, a panini, spag bol and tons of chips, plus puddings...(Although not all on the same day...) My personal favourite was the steak. I prefer mine rare and it's equally rare to find a chef able to actually cook a steak in this way. Nice one. I think I may have mentioned in a previous review that another reason why this place takes our fancy is it's uniqueness in its layout. There are at least five restaurants on Regent Road that are blandly similar once you get inside. Wrights have attempted to try something different. And it works in our opinion. One final point. There are a lot of reviews that criticise one member of the waiting staff. Well we have found this lady (who many refer to as the "old blonde"...) very good indeed. She has a great sense of humour and a strong work and service ethic. And she remembers us from year to year, no mean feat considering the amount of folk she must serve every day. Due to the pandemic we didn't visit GY last year and missed our holiday there greatly. It was great to return this year and even better to...
Read moreWe was having a great time in Yarmouth then we went to this restaurant. We walked in and the staff asked us if we wanted a seat we said yes and sat in a booth. Staff then gave us a menu and asked us 4 times if we was eating we said just a latte for now, the waitress then went to the back of the counter and advised the manager or owner we wanted a drink.the manger or owner then came over and said we can have a drink but must drink this outside in the cold. The restaurant was not full as 4 family's at best.we was then advised we must order food to stay inside. All we wanted was a quick coffee and be on our way. I have never been asked to leave a restaurant as a paying customer we did not say anything out of order or challenge this discussion. I felt very uncomfortable and affended and will not be recommending or visiting this...
Read moreMy friend and i were pleased to find somewhere selling omelettes. After sitting down, we were asked to move as disabled person needed that space. We were more than happy to help. The menu stated the prices of the food and we ordered promptly, along with a glass of tap water with a slice of lemon. The food was great. However, when I paid for mine, I discovered the water, which had no ice and just the lemon, so was warm, was priced at £1.50. When I queried this, I was told quite aggressively by the senior lady owner, that she had to pay for the water and lemon. She was not happy when I said everywhere else did not charge. In fact, you can go anywhere and ask for a glass of water, which is free. Her attitude was adversarial and she has now lost 2 customers for ever. We paid and left,...
