Just dropped in for a quick drink after spending a few hours shopping with little ones in Guildford and I was really impressed. I rushed in to do a nappy change for my littlest and my husband followed with our eldest and ordered drinks. The toilet was big enough to comfortably do a nappy change on the fold down table which is always a plus. When we came out I saw that someone had kindly given us some crayons and paper for the kids to do some drawing which was brilliant. It looks as though there's been a refurb, with all seating areas in mix and match fabrics and different styles that work really well together. My son informed me that they'd moved tables because our current table had better chairs for his little sister and my husband chimed in that the best thing about moving tables was that wherever you sit, you get a good view of a TV and as the rugby was on, he was very happy! We didn't eat here but the menu looked good. It was during half term, after lunch, so very quiet; not sure how busy it gets in the evenings or weekends but...

What truly sets The George Abbott apart from every other pub in Guildford is its incredible team. Niamh, Chloe, and Elisha are the heart and soul of the pub, each bringing their unique flair and dedication to ensuring every guest feels welcome and well-cared-for.

Niamh is an absolute delight, always ready with a warm smile and eager to recommend the best drink or dish to suit your tastes. Her knowledge of the menu and her enthusiasm for local brews are truly impressive, making her a go-to for anyone looking to explore new flavors.

Chloe's energy and friendliness are infectious. She has a knack for making everyone feel like a regular, even on their first visit. Her quick wit and efficient service ensure that your time at The George Abbott is always enjoyable and stress-free.

Elisha rounds out this stellar team with her exceptional hospitality and keen attention to detail. Whether she's crafting the perfect cocktail or checking in to make sure everything is just right, Elisha's dedication to her craft shines through in every...

This pub is in an excellent location right in the centre of Guildford, right by the canal.

However, because of this there is a lot of competition including, opposite, The White House with tables on the water and a short walk down the canal is The Britannia which has the best beer selection and food of the three.

Sadly, the George doesn’t stand up well alongside the other two.

We visited on a Friday lunchtime and were the only ones in. Their sharing menu is a bad idea given their facilities. We were told to expect slow delivery of the food due to only having one chef and being limited to two fryers.

The staff were perfectly nice, friendly and efficient but that isn’t matched by either the speed or quality of the menu items.

The pub appears to focus on its sports coverage so it’s probably best to consider...

We had our Christmas meal here, which I had organised for 20 people. It was a festive buffet and the food was amazing for the price we paid for it. We had a private area to ourselves and everything was setup for us. Jay the manager had planned it really well and made sure everything went smoothly and I didn't have to worry about being out of pocket. They put Christmas crackers on the table for everyone too, which was a nice touch and a surprise we didn't expect. The staff were attentive and accommodating and the pub itself is an excellent venue, well-maintained and very clean. Would recommend 100%.

We recently celebrated our son’s 4th birthday party here, and it was an incredible experience. When we lived on the high street, this pub was one of our favorite spots because of its great vibe and delicious food, so hosting the party here felt like the perfect choice—and it didn’t disappoint! A big thank you to the team for their prompt communication and for managing food service for our group of 40, even with one chef short. Your dedication and effort made the day truly special. Highly recommend—10/10! Aathira
