Was expecting better. After just coming back from Thailand we thought we’d have a Thai meal over here to compare the two. I wish we hadn’t bothered. Very over crowded and cramped. Clientele is basically young people who eat there first before going to bars and clubs. Need I say more. Food is mass produced and all tastes like it was cooked in the same pan.. the nicest thing I ate was the egg fried rice; but that’s not difficult. We ordered a starter costing over £10 to share and considering the other starters on the menu were around £6/£7, the quanitity of food we received (which we were advised was fine to share) was a complete piss take for the price. We had one deep fried prawn on a stick, one spring roll, one long calamari, one dim sum and one dried up carrot flower arrangement...and for £10 we were shocked (given the other options for starters which were likely the same size for much less price) The mains were salty and greasy tasting. Not really much else to comment on it. We didn’t finish any of the mains. Desert choice is horrendous and we didn’t have any. To top it all off, we were asked on paying, “how much would you like to tip” to which we replied “nothing”. We were then prompted again by the waitress pretending she didn’t hear the first time, “how much?” And again, we replied “zero...nothing!”. We didn’t receive any particularly good service and the staff were quite bland and lifeless. Oh and the women’s toilets- there are only two in a very small area, for the large amount of customers, it’s not good. One toilet was stuffed full of tissue because the toilets are so difficult to flush. Moral of the story is: we should have gone to the Ivy. Just read the other review saying the mixed starter (what we had) is like a Iceland party pack- it’s worse. I’d rather of had an Iceland party pack! The total bill, for what we had was very expensive. We could of gone to our local Chinese and ate (amazing tasting) food, like kings, for at least £20 less. Awful. Will never go back and the thought of that makes...

Ah, The Thai Terrace in Guildford, a culinary escapade that had us perched on metal chairs that seemed to have escaped from a whimsical children's playground – cold, dingy, and decidedly more suited for merry-go-rounds than a lavish birthday feast. With the resilience of seasoned warriors, we braved these frosty thrones armed with a second bottle of wine as our trusty ally.

Our gastronomic odyssey kicked off with chicken satay and prawn crackers that boasted avant-garde aesthetics, as if they were dressed for a modern art exhibit. The peanut sauce was the Pied Piper's tune for peanut butter lovers like me, though the portion size left us yearning for a food magician's spell to make it multiply.

Enter the green Thai Curry, a flavor explosion that had us considering composing an ode to its gastronomic brilliance. Sticky rice dared to challenge the status quo, but jasmine rice flaunted its Instagram filter glamour, leaving us in a culinary conundrum.

And then there was my father, ever the horticultural critic, who bravely championed the cause of "weeding" on a terrace adorned with synthetic grass. It was a scene straight out of a sitcom, his earnestness clashing hilariously with the artificial greenery that surrounded us.

Dessert? Alas, that ship sailed as we descended into the hilarity of a game called Heads Up, all while being conveniently perched atop a car park, which in hindsight felt like the universe's way of encouraging our carefree revelry.

In summary, The Thai Terrace treated us to a delightful array of flavors, quirky seating, and an unexpected lesson in the art of fake grass etiquette. It's an experience that transformed metal chairs into playground relics, peanut sauce into ambrosia, and weeding into a comedic act fit for a grand...

I had high expectations of this place but it was very disappointing. I know my food and have lived in Thailand, I have eaten in Thai restaurants all over the world and it’s quiet difficult to find a Thai restaurant that’s not great but I would say this is the worst Thai food I have had.

It’s not terrible but it is mostly precooked, meat is very tough and chewy. Mix platter starter was really dry and was either sitting on the pass for 20 minutes or more likely precooked. Chewy spring rolls like yesterdays and leather like dim sum, actually worst dim sum I have ever eaten in my life and I have eaten thousands. Starter platter is not even as good as Marks & Spencers platters I would say and prawn crackers are store bought (shameful) which is unbelievable for a Thai place.

Honestly, I have eaten much better buffets and this restaurant can not even touch a Thai street restaurant.

It’s quite a big restaurant with lots of covers and I think the kitchen can’t handle cooking fresh for that many covers so they just precook everything and refry it when ordered as food comes out fast. Prices are high and food is nowhere near the standard for the prices. Even the rice was bad!

I would never go back as all the little local Thai places I visit are cheaper and better.

Menu is uninspired, venue needs refreshing and tired with the brown carpets, decor looks tacky and zero ambience, feels like your in some a buffet restaurant.

The staff are very friendly and service is good but food and decor a big...

We dined here recently for a friends birthday and were a little underwhelmed by our experience. In previous years The Thai Terrace has always been renowned as one of the best restaurants in Guildford but it pains me to say that I think it’s lost a little bit of its shine. Whilst the food was good, prices remain high but the service was a little abrupt and the food came out so quickly that it was hard to really enjoy our evening (we had the 9pm sitting). They also seem to have dispensed with linen napkins and tablecloths which is a shame as it does add to the feeling of having a high end dining experience. There were quite a few large groups in which meant that the restaurant was a little noisy but I know there is not much they can do about this and it was the weekend after all. On reflection, the food was definitely good but for the price, I may be tempted to try Rumwong for a slightly more refined dining experience next time.

OK, it's very expensive but the atmosphere is brilliant, service exceptional and food very good. Oh, and great choice of cocktails, excellent bar tender.

Never been let down with the food and service here. It's a fantastic Thai restaurant offering delicious flavors. We ordered the vegetarian starter mix and spicy duck salad. The salad was packed with coriander, which I loved, and the dressing with the little pops of chili slices was incredible! It was a truly outstanding salad. The other starters, spring rolls, crispy corn fritters, wontons, and crispy tofu, paired perfectly with their accompanying sauces. Our mains, Pudd Thai Kai and the specialty set (green curry, rice, beef, and oyster sauce), were also very tasty. I personally preferred the Pudd Thai Kai, but everything was excellent overall." Staff were friendly and quick to serve when needed. My partner also had the Pirates of the Caribbean cocktail, which is always a hit.
