For many years I have ordered takeaway from here and the New Curry Centre which are both on London Road. And always it is good quality food. This time a friend and I visited Darchini. We were pointed at a table but being close to the door we asked to move. The waiter pointed at another next to three loud people (the restaurant wasn"t too busy) but we asked for a third cosier away from the cold and noise. A gruff annoyed looking head waiter or manager we assumed pointed at the first table and I said No we want to be away from the cold. Service wasn't great as we couldnt really make ourselves understood without pointing. One waiter came to ask for our drinks but as we started to order, the phone rang and he went and answered it - then disappeared! I was shocked and embarressed for my guest. The food was nice - as good as the takeaway food. Finally the bill - we asked to split it and the waiter rounded it up to easy split 2 ways. It wasn't much but shouldn't have happened. A larger group would have lost more. We took that as their tip and left nothing else.
Dissappointed after years of high service from the take...
Read moreDarchini is a to die for restaurant. The food is always top tier, service is incredible, and Atmosphere, inviting.
We went in for a meal for two on Wednesday which is a tapas styled night. We had hot and medium dishes. These were priced at £19.95. That plus a drink each and a starter came to a modest £58.
Value for money is unparalleled in the area. The venue is set in a beautiful Tudor building that you have to see to believe. The staff are kind and attentive, but not overbearing - a hard balance to strike in the service industry.
On this recent occasion we had a new waiter who's English was not the best, but I did take note that when he got things wrong, the manager very calmly explained things in his own language without raising his voice. How a manager treats their staff is always a surefire way to know how much they care about their customers.
There's a lovely bar here as well, and also the toilets are incredibly well kept - a good sign that the kitchen is in a...
Read moreSo I ordered some dinner for tonight. After a long week at work I am sure we all look forward to a lovely Indian with a beer. Am I right ? To be honest guys it came on time and was packed perfectly. The food was hot when I opened it and I was salivating and looking forward to this so much. However, after having the first bite I realised that there is such a lack of flavour from the chicken tikka biryani and seekh kebab. The shop brought poppadom and frozen veg samosa was fine. I was so disappointed. I paid £25 for this meal. I am sure it doesn’t seem like a lot to most people but in the current economic climate it is a decent amount . I stopped eating and gave the rest to my dog. Unfortunately, he wouldn’t eat it either. Gratefully, I washed it down with a cold beer. Sorry to say but this isn’t proper...
