Victoria's Sponge — Restaurant in Horsham

What a lovely cafe. I visited Steyning whilst cycling the South Downs Way and found Victoria's Sponge by chance. What luck! The premises are newly refurbished and fitted out to a high standard whilst there's something on the menu for every diet, with a particularly wide selection of salads. I chose an excellent avocado and beetroot platter but you can mix and match from all the options to suit yourself. I also enjoyed a slice of the just-baked lemon curd cake and a particularly delicate Earl Gray tea. And my grateful thanks to the owner who let me give the battery of my e-bike a 45 minute booster charge. Went to Victoria's Sponge this week. Wanted to support local independent. Lovely little place. Simple, but pretty decor. Wasn't acknowledged, had to ask 'diner' who we thought was working there, if we could come in. We Ordered 2 takeaway salads + cake's. Waited about 15 minutes for our order. Went to local park to eat our 'picnic' & reminisce some school day memories! Salad was deliciously fresh, but mainly lettuce/leaves. Certainly not worth £7.95!!!!! Orange & lavender cake was very greasy. Apple & blackberry cake was lovely, but the jam tasted 'musty'. Obviously early days for this little treasure. I think the pleasant proprietor, needs a helper. Lovely little tea rooms, beautiful crockery, best coffee we have both had in a very long time, amazing selection of cakes including gluten free & vegan. Nice selection of salads, simple cooked food & sandwiches with take away option. Victoria herself couldn't have done more for us or been more helpful, lovely lady & doing it all alone. Toilet not suitable for disabled though as such a tiny space. Cushions I could sit on though so 9 out of 10 from us. Really lifted our trip to Steyning on a wet & windy day, Thank you we will definitely be back & will be recommend you to all our family & friends.
