Unfortunately a mixed review. We had a day trip to Lancaster as we were visiting the castle. Stopped for lunch with my children. Staff were lovely on arrival and very friendly and great with the children. We ordered two hot drinks, two cold and four meals. I could see the drinks prepared but they were left on counter for a good 5-8 minutes. When the food came (before the drinks) my meal wasn't there. Drinks came but my cappuccino had cooled and was only luke warm and had to ask twice for milk for my son's tea and my daughter's drink was wrong so had to be changed. As my children got halfway through their food I asked a server if mine would be coming and I was told yes. By the time we had finished our drinks and my children were down to their last mouthful of food still no sign of my meal so I asked for a refund. The staff refunded me and at the same time I explained I was underwhelmed given our drinks had cooled whilst waiting to be served and, given how long it had taken to get them, I hadn't bothered asking for them to be remade as by that point we just wanted a drink. Counter staff refunded me but did seem a bit non-plussed. The server who had been allocated our table did, to his credit, apologise twice but all in all not a great experience
The children did enjoy their meals (french toast and a sausage breakfast barm) but I personally left feeling hungry and...
Read moreMy husband and I went in with our two young boys for breakfast. The staff were very friendly and polite. We asked for 3 and a highchair.
The girl was very helpful and ensured we were happy with our table and if we wanted the chair removing that we didn't need.
My husband looked at the menu and wanted a bacon buttie. Unfortunately to his dispare there wasn't bacon on the menu....anywhere. He asked what I was going to have and I wanted the poached eggs with creamy mushrooms to which he then chose to have the same.
We ordered the boys scrambled eggs on crumpets to share. When ordering we asked for a small extra plate so we could put some eggs on for my 1 year old. The staff were more than accommodating, the girl brought two plates which were different sizes and gave me the option of which I'd prefer. Our poached eggs came on slices of sourdough and rocket. It was absolutely delicious and my husband was rather glad there wasn't bacon as he wouldn't have tried this and he loved it, so did I.
The boys weren't into the scrambled eggs but that's OK we finished what they didn't.
The decor in here is lovely, and the seating is comfortable. Price is reasonable and spacing is just right. I was VERY happy with our visit and I will be going again for those delicious Poached eggs on...
Read moreCame for lunch today after craving the sweet chilli wrap I had a month or so ago. Little gutted to see it wasn't on the menu but still plenty of choice. Now it's a popular cafè in Lancaster so normally is busy, we did mange to find seating downstairs. You cam go up and order or the tables have QR code to open menu, order and pay from your seat. I chose this option. Ordered flat white coffee and Americano. The coffee is very nice here, not weak or watery. It had a good kick to it but not the usual strong after taste you can get. Food order was one mozzarella, buffalo tomato and pesto toastie which came with some fries and a small side salad. Second sandwich was a Ruben (pastrami, pickle and onion chutney on this one) again with fries and small salad. The pesto was one of the nicest home made fresh ones I've tasted, not oily or too heavy and mozzarella was light and nice. The fries here are lovely, have skin on but cooked crispy (but not over done), not oily and seasoned already with salt. The Ruben had a good amount of pastrami on it and pickles, I tried a bite and I'll order that myself next time. Bill came to around £24 for lunch. The cakes in here always look so tempting! Definitely worth a try weather it's breakfast, lunch or dinner...
