The Study Room — Restaurant in Lancaster

I went here for my friend's birthday today and we were served by a young woman with dark, curly hair. As soon as we walked in she didn't engage with us and looked very moody. I asked for a cocktail menu and just had it thrown at me, then as she was making our drinks I heard her say to the other bartender "I am so fed up with my job, I wish I didn't work here anymore". About half an hour later, she came over to our table and took my friend's drink without asking her, which wasn't finished. Not long after she came over to the table again and took my drink which was still 1/4 full. I was very annoyed by this but thought it was best not to engage with her since she had a very unpleasant, grumpy look on her face, so I doubt whatever I said would really go far. I am just so appaled by this rude customer service. I have been here a handful of times, and each time she has been just as rude and moody. Unfortunately she has really ruined my experience of the bar, and so I will probably not be going back which is a shame as the bar is a lovely place, but would definitely benefit...

went in for coffee and cake. our cappuccino came, which was a weak americano with some foam on top. who puts water in a cappuccino? two cakes on display must’ve gone stale as the bartender came out and told us she was going to defrost some cakes so they’d be about ten minutes. slightly concerning as you’re most definitely not supposed to defrost cake in the microwave, we did feel ill later but cannot be certain it was down to the cakes. servers were rude, sat at a table on their phones when we arrived and appeared frustrated at us arriving. it’s a shame because we’ve been a few times for drinks before and really enjoyed the drinks and service, would not recommend after...

Coffee and a cake deal for £4, ordered 2 cakes, a cappuccino and an americano, coffee came clearly just a shot of espresso topped up with water in the cappuccino tasted literally like dish water and I’m not usually fussy with coffee. Then we were told that our cake was ‘just defrosting’! Waited 5 mins for the cake and when it arrived it was genuinely disgusting and chunky, couldn’t finish either. Girl on the bar was rude and abrupt we’re not the type to complain usually as we both work in hospitality ourselves but this was genuinely a horrible experience and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone visiting / living in Lancaster - Tuesday...
