Popular restaurant in lancaster .Inside a lot nice people .Quite nice design , but in some places wall scarting dust need be clean more proper . More than 1 hour waited for meal .Understand that a lot people waiting the same ,but realy too long special if you are hungry . Starter came after 35 min . Undercooked shrimp, half raw. I tried it and left it. My husband chose garlic bread with cheese - ok, my daughter chose rice and cheese balls - tasteless.ok No one served sugar for tea with lemon, so we had to go and ask. After another 40 minutes, pasta carbonara was brought.....I eat it in many places in the world....pasta half al dente, half undercooked, a rather salty sauce mixed with a little panchetta. On top for decoration??? Dried and baked prosciutto and cheese in the shape of a semicircle. No one liked it...because how can something taste that is not edible. Well, we can't wait for dessert. We ordered cheesecake with raspberries. Cheesecake made definitely not with typical white cheese, but some kind of yogurt. Topped with such a sweet syrup and raspberries that it is impossible to eat. Why the syrup? To kill/cover the taste of the yogurt instead of cheese, next to it a scoop of ice cream. I try .... I have never had such chemistry in my mouth. After the first try none of us wanted more. The service man came up to us so I explained what was happening. The man apologized because .... and here is an interesting fact: The kitchen does not cook everything because it receives ready-made semi-finished products to heat up or finish. Ah, so everything is clear. So there is nothing here that is prepared by the chef from scratch from fresh products - sad. The service man wants to give me 25% redundancy. I explain that it is not necessary, I do not care about money. What I mean is that when going to a restaurant - not to a cheap pub, I want to sit in a clean, nice space, feel the taste and atmosphere of the place, be delighted by the good taste of the dish and enjoy the moment. Unfortunately, I left here very disappointed and I will definitely not come back. It is a pity that Lancaster does not have a decent place where you can go, eat well and tasty, drink good quality tea or coffee or a glass of high quality wine. I am willing to give a palace for good food in...
Read moreUnfortunately I am sharing my shocking and disappointing experience my family and I had at your restaurant on Sunday, 24/8/25.
We have always enjoyed the atmosphere, service and food.
Unfortunately, our most recent visit was profoundly negative and felt discriminatory.
Details of the Incident:
• Upon arrival as a party of four adults and one child, we were greeted by an individual named Tiffany at the entrance. Her demeanor was noticeably hostile and unwelcoming; she appeared reluctant to assist us.
• After being seated, we waited 20 minutes without service, while a neighboring table—seated after us—was attended to.
• Throughout this time, we overheard kitchen staff shouting for service, and saw food left unattended on the counters—suggesting understaffing.
• When I politely asked “excuse me” to signal our lack of service, it was ignored. When we followed up to say that nobody has taken our drinks or food order, Tiffany responded with an exasperated sigh, questioned what drinks we wanted (implying we had ordered), and offered no apology.
• Feeling frustrated and unwelcome, we decided to leave and asked for Tiffany's name. She begrudgingly apologised at this point
Given our positive experiences in past visits—and as restaurant owners ourselves—we found this level of service, particularly from someone in what we assume is in a supervisory role, deeply disappointing. We also suspect racial bias influenced the manner in which we were treated, as the service and attitude towards us were noticeably different from other customers.
We had travelled all the way from Kendal (which we regularly do) and wanted to treat ourselves to a lovely lunch but the bad experience left such a bad taste in our mouths for the rest of the day.
We ended up going to a local cafe with lovely service and lovely...
Read moreWent to Zizzis on Sunday evening. It wasn't particularly busy. I liked the free pasta crisps on the table and the setting and atmosphere was really nice. My husband had pesto rosso which he said was OK, my daughter had a margherita which was huge and very much made me wish I'd had a pizza! She enjoyed it. I had the chorizo carbonara which had a huge amount of pancetta which was not well cooked and a bit gristly...but there was no chorizo at all. Now I am the kind of person that when someone comes to your table to ask if everything's OK then I will say if there is an issue- how else are they meant to put it right? Well no one came, so we ate.
The plates were cleared promptly and we asked for pudding menus. We sat for 20 minutes with these menus. The server came and spoke to the other 4 tables in our area - I made eye contact and nodded and smiled at him several times but he didn't get the cues. In the end I waved and called him over and just asked for the bill. He asked then how the meal had been and I specifically answered 'OK'. In my mind if a customer says things were OK, I'd be asking about that, but he didn't. So OK = a 3 star review.
We had vouchers from Christmas so it ended up being a very cheap meal. If I'd have paid full price I'd have been really unhappy. We did get a free garlic bread by signing up to the Zillionaire's club though and that was a lot bigger than expected. OK food and OK service means it is not a...
