Used the takeaway facility from an online order for collection. Food was ready on time. The food cost was slightly more expensive than our usual takeaway but thought it was worth a try, based on some good recommendations that we had seen online. Staff were not all that welcoming upon arrival but were helpful nevertheless. We checked our order as we got in the car. 5 items missing (all the side items such as poppadoms and naan bread). We went back into Saffrons and they prepared the missing items while the rest of our food went cold in the carrier bag. No offer was made to keep the food warm. We had to stand in the doorway, getting in the way of various people as they arrived - nobody offered us a seat while we were waiting. The staff apologised when the remaining items were brought out to us 10 minutes later. When we got home, 2 of the items (poppadoms) were burnt. The onion salad was missing from the order (we hadn't noticed that earlier). The side salads were a sloppy mess, packaged in small plastic bags - we didn't eat them. Food was fairly cold after waiting for the above problems to be resolved. Samosas were very small. Vegetable madras had hardly any recognisable veg in it, mostly stodgy sauce with a single chunk of potato. We went to Saffrons because of recommendations we had seen online but...
Read moreJust moved to the area so was looking forward to having a meal from this Indian restaurant which was not far from our home. The service was great with a door to door service from the actual staff and the process was easy via ordering online. It wasn’t the cheapest so hoped the quality would be of good standard.
I even joked with the kind person when he delivered the food and mentioned we were looking forward to the meal as it was only literally 1-2 mins walk away and would be great if we enjoyed it.
Unfortunately the meal was the worst Indian meal we’ve ever had. The starter was of little and poor quality especially for the cost, both the main meals for both my partner and I was of extremely poor standard and to put thing even worse, even the mint sauce which we had with the popadoms was awful (how that can happen or be terribly made, we had no idea… tasted like sour milk with mint ).
We didn’t get in touch with the restaurant as we thought that if every item was of this standard, we’d really wouldn’t want a replacement with another poor quality meal.
We will unfortunately seek elsewhere and hopefully find another Indian when the time arises with a much better quality of food. Shame as mentioned above, this restaurant is only 1-2 mins...
Read moreWe went on Saturday 27th September about 6.30.
We had 3 starters & one main:
-Popadoms with usual sauces & onions = Good! -3 x Very small Onion Bhaji = looked & tasted like frozen supermarket product. -3 x Chicken pakora = Hard small pieces of real chicken covered in breadcrumbs with No spices or flavour. Chicken Biryani with a butter curry sauce = Wow!! The worst ever, we are well travel including many Holidays in India. Rice with hard bits in as if it was heated up under the grill… the chicken was not moist or fresh to taste! No spices Or Flavour. The buttered sauce was like a korma nothing like the regular butter curry sauce in Most Indian restaurants.
We wanted to pay on card. Well, what a joke that was!!
2025 you run a restaurant business & your card machine has to be taken outside to complete transactions… The young girl was like us embarrassed, 3 times she went out to try & get the transaction to complete?? In the end we were so desperate to get out of the restaurant I said I’ll pay in cash. Which is what we think the Owner wanted to happen. As I refuse to believe that they have no internet/wifi facility in a business they run?
The best of our visit was the delightful young girl...
