Very disappointing visit on Saturday 14th April 2018 they have a queing system at the bar there was 1 person serving for 5 minutes of my queing and then another young guy started serving it took him a while to till in my request for food, when i asked for my table to be cleaned he said there were only 2 staff and there should be 4. All the tables upstairs were full of drinks and uncleared food plates, we had to clear ours onto another dirty table. 4 people came and sat nearby they had to do the same and 1 lady used a wet wipe to clean their table and swapped a chair which was dirty. The waitress was walking around with food twice and took it back into the kitchen each time then she came out the 3rd time with the same plates and came to our table, i asked if they were the same plates and she said yes i said i don't want cold food but she said it wont be cold. It wasnt hot either! i pointed to the table number and why she couldn't find us and she said the floor plan had changed. She offered us a drink as an apology. I can understand it must have been difficult being short staffed but this shouldn't impact on the customer experience when they are spending hard earned money. We were going to go for breakfast but the experience put us off. I do frequent Wetherspoons when on weekend breaks around the country but this experience has spoiled my weekend away so maybe i shall have to look elsewhere in the future. Some people might think i'm being picky but that was my experience and i'm very dissapointed. J D Wetherspoon get a grip and...
Read moreFor once there were enough floor staff for the customers but the pro lem was in the kitchen. My wife was ravenous and wanted a curry (it was Thursday) with the samosa and bargee sides - each at £1.30.
There was a decent amount of chicken pieces in the "jalfrezi", which was jolly spicy but the small samosa was disappointing and the bargee was black and inedible. I took it back and the young lass said she'd get it replaced.
4 or 5 minutes later a plate was brought to our table with 2 bargees....an upgrade! Except both were as burnt as the first!! Sending them back, my wife carried on with the rest of the meal.
Another few minutes later and 2 more arrived. These were the right colour and crisp to the bite but...as you bit into them (they were about 2cm thick and flat, 8 by 7 cm discs) the middle was warm mush!
I enjoyed my Quinoa Salad. I chose the £2.05 upgrade of Smoked Salmon, which was 2, very modest ribbons of the expected salty pink fish. It was a small addition to the base for the rather larger price.
Sadly I spent many hours the following morning staying close to the toilet. Clearly not the salmon's fault (as that would have reacted faster and harsher) but the bargees...hmmm?? There's clearly an issue, if a restaurant cannot get the bargees to the table, fully but not overcooked.
We've been there 6 or 8 times before but may struggle to...
Read moreHorrible experience! Without question the worst Wetherspoons I have ever been in. Terrible service, no management of staff (or Wetherspoons standard regulations, such as no dogs other than assistance dogs). Waited 10 minutes outside without seeing a member of staff, went in to let a member of staff know I was outside and would be paying cash - so not able to order on the app. Waited another 15 minutes and still no member of staff came out to the external drinking area. Went in again and spoke to the manager who informed me that it was disrespectful to him if I complained about service - or a complete lack of service! Eventually got served after being there about 40 minutes, drank the drinks and left. Over an hour later we walked past and our glasses were still on the table having not been cleared away. I appreciate that some pubs have struggled during the covid restrictions, but there was easily less than 50 people on the premises, and when I went inside, there was a minimum of 3 members of staff on the bar. This really is down to poor management. Will not be going to the pub again, and feel that Wetherspoons need to take a look at this as has a reputation to protect - and this pub is doing its best to...
