Unfortunately would not recommend or revisit. Chose to go here for my 25th birthday dinner as the recent reviews were good, however it was the complete opposite for our visit. There were 4 of us and we spent around £150. The only saving grace for this place were the cocktails, which came out quickly and were nice. Service was not good, there was 5/6 tables and one waiter who would walk away in the middle of a conversation when the kitchen bell rang. We ordered around 13 tapas dishes (recommended 3 dishes per person by the waiter) and they literally came all at once, which is confusing as it is a small kitchen who couldn’t possibly have cooked all the food at once. Not sure if I was wrong to assume they’d come out in intervals as they were cooked. The waiter brought us every single dish in a row, the table was overflowing and we had to combine several dishes onto one plate ourselves to make room. This also meant that a lot of the food got cold as we had to make our way through them all sitting on the table. The food all tasted the exact same in seasoning, bar 2 different sauces/dips. We were extremely disappointed with the food. Not once did the waiter come over to check things were okay, didn’t even ask when we were paying the bill. Desserts were okay but not sure if that was just compared to the rest of the food. (Also no special birthday touch, which is picky and of course isn’t a major issue but don’t ask on the booking website for any special requests if there isn’t...
Read moreReally lovely venue and pleasant staff bit the food... overpriced and not very interesting. Ordered vegetarian nachos at £12.50 (same price as the one with meet) only to be served shop bought not very nice nachos with sprinkles of cheese and a bowl of tinned reheated beans in the middle. Sauces lacked flavour. Best nachos I've had so far are served in Pinche Pinche restaurant, freshly fried with lots of tasty toppings at a price of £7.50 (enough for two people to share)! Main course, seafood medley at almost £18, basically a broth with one large prawn sticking out, some defrosted calamari rings and a few defrosted prawns. There was a promise of a fish in it but we only found one very small, 2cmx2cm, piece of cod. This is not worth £18! In fact you can have a really fish heavy seafood medley at Stew and Oyster for £7.50! In Leeds we are spoilt for choices of interesting eating places so sadly I'm not going to be back at Casa Columbiana, not for food that is very average at...
Read moreAnother solo meal……there’s an art to solo eating. Go high end or drop to lower end quieter. Go mainstream and you’re gonna to feel uncomfortable. Casa is a simple but quality eating (and South American dance club if that’s your thing) venue. Halfway down Leeds’ Grand Arcade it offers an interesting array of South American foods. Offering a completely Gluten Free menu it’s niche. I ordered a glass of Pino Grigio while I looked at the menu. Not good. Sent it back. Got a Super Bock beer - superb. Ordered three dishes from their tapas menu. Lamb chops - delicious but lack of meat meant I felt shortchanged. Beef tacos - good but needed a little more spice/flavour, fried plantain with guacamole - delicious. Something of a curate’s egg. I’m inclined to say I like it. But it needs to sharpen up in a...
