If ever there is a friendly neighbourhood cafe where everyone knows your name and treats you like a rockstar, Cha Lounge is it. The cafe has eclectic and warm décor that makes you feel like you've transported into another world. The menu has such a nice variety, and they cater to a variety of dietary needs. You just need to tell them and they will personalise any dish for you. They also have an impressive amount of loose leaf chas to try, so there's every reason to keep going back for more.
During lockdown, Cha Lounge came through in supporting the local community by organising fresh veg boxes and groceries for those who wanted to buy local or were sceptical of going to supermarkets. Later, they expanded to afternoon and cream tea sets that were perfect for date night or picnics. Once I bought a veg box from them, I couldn't go back to a box chain supermarket anymore.
Dining-wise, I cannot recommend their brunch highly enough. You can taste that their ingredients are high quality and fresh. My niblings especially love Gemma's pancakes. We have also gone to a few of their curry nights which we thought was very delicious. If you're ever in Dock Street, do pop in and say hi, even if all you're getting is a...
Read moreI came here with high hopes after seeing the website and reviews, it all looked great! But unfortunately, we were really disappointed with the service and food.
First, the online menu isn’t accurate. We chose this place thinking it would be reasonably priced, but when we got there, we found the English breakfast was £12.50 and it was a very small portion for that price.
Second, the service wasn’t great. It felt very half-hearted, and we even overheard two employees talking badly about another staff member. On top of that, the kitchen door was wide open, so we could see right inside. Unfortunately, I noticed no one washing their hands between handling different foods, which was a big concern for me.
Lastly, seeing the lack of hygiene in the kitchen put me off my meal completely. When the food arrived, it wasn’t good, and it felt very overpriced for what we got.
I don’t usually like to leave reviews like this, but I was genuinely disappointed. Hopefully, this feedback helps improve the experience for future customers because this could be a good place with...
Read moreMe and my cousin went here for breakfast this morning.
The food was very flavoursome and yummy. However, it took a really long time for someone to come over to the table to take our order and even longer for the food to come.
When it did come, the portions were small, and in my opinion, over priced. I’m not one to normally write a review about portion sizes and service times because life is often too short to complain about things like this.
What brought me here is something I think is really important that needs to change. We both had the ‘moon milk’ because we thought it sounded tasty. However, very shortly after having it, a completely unmovable wave of exhaustion came over us. Bright lights started to give us headaches and taking steps seemed like a massive chore. Upon looking it up, this is a drink supposed to help with sleeplessness and should be enjoyed before bed. There was no warning of these effects on the menu and after a painful walk home, our bodies are now aching with exhaustion. I strongly recommend you put a warning out...
