One afternoon we spotted a cafe, we'd not been in before. We took a seat and after a few minutes tried to order but we were asked to take a seat and we'd be offered table service very nice for tired feet.
We waited, and we waited some more. One young woman was busy making coffee's the young man was busy taking to a customer. We waited a few minutes more, and I approached, the young man broke from his chat to tell me again its table service and someone would come over.
So back to my table, we waited.
Now I could hear the conversation and it was a catch up between a worker and a customer.
Young lady still busy making coffee's plating, food.
He kept chatting and we kept waiting. A while had passed as we got my daughters colouring pencils out and she was already well into her drawing. The young lady served food and the man kept chatting.
It was not particularly busy - so we got up and left. I said bye, the young man didn't even acknowledged we'd left.
Its important to me that we support independent businesses . Its important customers feel a sense of community but not at the price of new customers being ignored by said staff. I take no pleasure in writing this but in times of austerity, all business's is important. We walked into the another cafe and within ten minutes we'd had our order taken and hot drinks served.
I cannot say the exact date but I could find out by my receipt for the Corn Exchange so if the owner is interested please...
Read moreThis is a fantastic cosy space in that's always busy. Serves a great selection of drinks and some sweet treats. It's a great safe space that needs to be protected, as a result I often have tea and toast when in town solely to spend money and help keep it alive. However there are a few points for learning. The afternoon menu is very smashed this and smoked that on sourdough. It's a little boring and could do with a few other non sandwich based options, especially as the winter months approach.
Customer service is haphazard and staff lack in front of house confidence, altho perfectly friendly, orders arrive at different times and it's a little disjointed. Extending from this is one of my pet hates. Asking for the money before providing the service. This isn't McDonald's. It feels like you're more interested in getting my money that offering me warm and welcoming hoapitality.
Sort theese out and I think it'll make a real differece, but please if you're LGBT or have LGBT people in your family, please support this very...
Read moreJust went to Flamingos Coffee House. Nice little independent café. My girlfriend and I are visiting Leeds today, and only noticed it due to a lady holding a sign outside stating 'Flamingos Independent Café This Way'.
The shop is smallish, but the presentation is nice. The wooden tables are are solid and were nice to look at, and clean.
The menu is quite limited, and the prices steep. I imagine the rates for renting the shops are also steep, adding to the prices. The chap and lass (who one holding the sign outside) were both pleasant. Whilst the prove are steel, and the portions not large, I really enjoyed the Avacado, Feta, and Chilli on Sourdough Bread. Plenty of feta cheese, which I like. It was very tasty. The latte was also very good. The chocolate orange cake portion was a little miserly, but again, I imagine they have to cover their overheads. A pleasant experience, in spite...
