Mog's Cafe — Restaurant in Leeds

We drove to the area and there is on street parking around a short distance away, if you aren't driving the bus stops literally less than 200 metres away from the entrance.

My nose told me where mogs was, the smell was amazing.

Unpretentious and simple looking place, and a welcoming smile greeted us from the friendly member of mogs team who was serving taking orders. We'd booked a table as I had followed on Instagram how popular this place was... Now I know why!

The lay out is a bit harsh for the serving staff as they have to run up and down stairs, and the toilet is located down there too so not great if you struggle with stairs (it wasn't an issue for us).

I ordered the "sticky Korean chicken dinner" and it was so lush, I've had fried seitan before in London and was impressed but this took it to a whole new level. My omni partner ordered the bossman burger and now wants me to get vegan bacon in and fry some seitan for him... 😁

The hot chocolate was brill, and the whipped cream didn't sink like other vegan whipped cream I've had... Which just gives it that extra touch of indulgence..

We purchased a salted caramel donut for later... Which was heavenly ❤️

The last couple of times I have been into Mogs I have felt so uncomfortable in there.

We decided to put our last visit down to just a bad day, after all we are only human and went again today for some lunch.

Today I left the shop upset and horrified. We made our food order. I asked for a cup of tea, they don’t do hot drinks anymore so I asked for a tap water. The man in there asked the woman how much and she said £1 and I queried if tap water could be charged. The woman, with such an aggressive attitude grunted at me to the jist of ‘ fine then’. I may have been wrong in my query about the tap water, my point is more about how aggressive she was. The other staff didn’t seem to blink an eye lid at this aggressiveness so I assume are used to it or intimidated themselves.

I decided I wasn’t comfortable and called to my husband to leave, by which she said in an aggressive sarcastic tone ‘ see ya then’. I’ve not experienced anything like it. I didn’t rise to the aggression and just walked out, but I got the sense she was goading me. It’s a really shame because I do believe humanity on the whole is kind. This is why I tried again.

I am a true carnivore, however while in Leeds at Arcade Club I went to Mogs... I had the burger and chicken strips... The food come out and it was THE BEST thing I have tasted in years... Get to Mogs NOW, try it, enjoy it, it was amazing food prepared with care and it shows in the dish.

Forget Mac Donald's, Burger King and KFC... Mogs food was another lever of food. We spend money on food and eat all kinds of stuff... I was truly surprised and stunned at the both the taste and flavour combinations and the quality of the food.

As a meat eater and regular guy, and this one meal has opened my eyes to plant based meals... Now I am not saying I will never eat meat again as I will, but I will definitely look at plant based foods from now when eating both at home and when shopping.

I will travel there again for sure... Great food, great venue and...
