I have been here a couple of times and received excellent service but today sadly from the moment I called to book was given attitude on the call and was lied to about availability. Once I turned up it only got worse I was told what was included in the afternoon tea was hot and cold drinks as long as they were non alcoholic so my group placed their order. However the manager later decided as we were using our gifted vouchers for the afternoon tea we could only order hot drinks which was very disappointing and the opposite of what we were initially told. This hasnāt happened before either so we couldnāt understand why this was the case now. Also when a English breakfast tea was ordered we were given this without milk we waited and waited around 10 mins to find a staff member couldnāt see one free so approached the lady at the desk to request the milk she had gone to get this then just left it at the bar another 10 mins went by by which time the tea got cold. The manager was also informed about this but decided to argue the point about biscuits not being included with the English breakfast tea instead of apologising and replacing the cold tea and bringing the milk immediately after this incident he also refused the cold drinks as being part of the afternoon tea which we felt was done in response to the complaint we made about the cold tea which is very unprofessional as we were told this was included initially and this has been the case on previous visits as well. Itās also strange how the order for the cold drinks was placed with the waitress who actually said cold drinks were included then later how the manager got involved to say this canāt happen confused me as it feels he was monitoring our order strangely and makes it feel he was being spiteful towards us due to our complaint of the cold tea. Therefore I donāt want to visit this establishment again and the staff should treat all guests with respect and professionalism regardless of whether they complain or use a gift voucher or not. They should stick with their word and not lie. All in all the manager is an absolute idiot with no customer service skills and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI very rarely find the need to write a negative review about somewhere. However, the way my friend was treated last night by the host and the manager of skylounge was absolutely appalling. We had popped in for a quick drink after an evening business meeting downstairs, and we had her baby with us. The staff all saw us walk in and sit down, one man came over to our table and took our order (even commented and smiled at the baby). Numerous other staff walked past us whilst we were sat there for at least 20 minutes making no attempt to hide the baby who was gurgling away quite happily. As soon as my friend went to breast feed her baby, the 'host' came over to tell us that children were not allowed in the skylounge and we had to leave immediately, apparently to do with their licensing law. At this time our drinks arrived, the waitress that brought the drinks was lovely and tried reason for us to stay just for the drink and to feed the baby. The manager wouldn't even make eye contact let alone come over and apologise for any inconvenience. We left without making a scene and were taken to the bar downstairs where we were allowed to have our drinks. To be suddenly asked to leave upon feeding her baby and not be able to finish feeding before having to leave for a licensing law, is something I find offensive and discriminatory, especially when numerous staff had seen the baby and if this was the case they would surely know about the rule and have already said something?!? There were also no signs visible that said children were not allowed. I along with another table who had seen this going on, felt this was possibly more to do with a dislike of public breast feeding than it was to do with sticking to a supposed law that the rest of the staff seemed to know...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWaited 1hr 20mins for Afternoon Tea, then left hungry!!
I reserved a table for 2, using the online form, for the 27th of Dec 2017 at 1pm for Afternoon Tea (I entered Afternoon tea on the form). When we arrived, they had our reservation and promptly seated us and explained the menu, etc., which was all very well. The waiter then said that there would be a 30 minute wait for Afternoon Tea - which we thought was alright and so I agreed. In the meanwhile, we ordered some drinks which were not included in the set menu and spent some time looking around Leeds from the rooftop (it's in an amazing location - and has the potential to be a fantastic venue). 45mins goes by and still no sign of the food, so I called the waiter who said that it would take another 15 mins!! Then 1 hour goes by and I see the waiter finally bringing out a few Tea stands for some of the other guests. Another 20mins goes by and it is now 2.20pm but there's no sign of our food. So I finally went over to the bar and asked the waiter who then said it would take ANOTHER 10mins!!! The other waiter at the bar then asked me if I wasn't informed that the chef was late and no preps had been done so it would be late. Well, I WASN'T INFORMED!! Had I been informed at the beginning that it was going to take one and a half hours, I could have made an informed decision about whether I wanted to stay or not. However, I wasn't informed, and the estimates given by the other waiter appear to have been plucked out of the thin air. This is what I find absolutely unacceptable. So I finally requested that the order be cancelled, paid for the drinks, and left hungry at around 2:30pm. Sadly, I can't comment on the food as it...
